lurrutia
My inlaws are taking the whole family (13 of us) on a cruise over Christmas to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Any suggestions what we can do onboard to celebrate? Thanks... :
Chucksta63
This sounds Awesome!!!!! What ship are you on? A private get together party is allways nice. Get them a cake for diner one night!
Sealady
What an awesome milestone well worth splurging on; congratulations !!! I just got back from a HAL cruise, and there is so much to do as far as celebrating. I would look into a shore excursion or two that the whole family could enjoy. Eating in the main dining room is like a celebration every night; they were bringing cakes to so many tables that had a birthday or anniversary. I hope you all have a great cruise. Chucksta63
Here is another one. Give them a night away from you all. Not to sound mean but a nice romantic diner for two in the supper club if your ship has one. Get together later for a comic show. Laughing is allways a good memory! hazelson
Wow - what a great way to celebrate. I agree the night just to themselves is a super idea - the rest of the time should be spent reminiscing ...... they must have some wonderful stories of their years together - the young ones should listen and remember - sort of a how-to book for marriage success. Have fun!!!!
Gregswife
It's not an idea for a party but thought I would pass it along. 4 yrs. ago, my in-laws had their 50th. 6 months prior, I sent out letters to 150 names, which my sister-in-law and I found after sneaking my MIL's address book out of the house for a few hrs. I asked them for a note to the anniversary couple, and also to include pictures of themself and maybe any pics they had of themselves with mom and dad. I got letters back from couples they had been friends with when they first got married, my FIL's buddies in the service and lots of other's they had exchanged Christmas cards with but hadn't seen in a very long time. I made a scrapbook out of all the things I received and gave it to them on their anniversary. They were so touched by it and spent hrs. pouring over all the letters and reminiscing about the things they read. It was on the guest table at their anniversary party and they now keep it on the coffee table and still look at it occassionally. It meant more to them than anything we could have bought them for a gift.
TheSkipper
Why not all chip in and get them upgraded to a suite? As a surprise of course.
hazelson
Cheryl - I love your idea. We did a big one for my folks 50th anniversary. The venue was easy - Dad had been in extended care for 8 years so we just had it there - with a lot of new friends, the staff and lots of older friends and family. Mom was a war bride - when they got married Dad was in England in the airforce. He came back to Canada several months before Mom - so consequently there were lots of "Love" letters. I dug them all up and printed them out on the computer and added funny graphics. That was just the beginning. There were also letters from Mom's family back in England - and some were really funny - so I printed those up as well. I added the stories of building their house, kids, grand kids ....... The book turned out to be over 50 pages long - and Mom shares it with her friends all the time. A labor of love - and well worth it.
KeithnRita
Cheryl, that is a great ideal! Also, Skipper's surprise to upgrade them to a suite would be special.
