TheSkipper
What has been your most memorable cruise ship moment? Other than the x rated ones, of course. Serious or funny share them all.
TheSkipper
I guess I should start this off. My most memorable moment was when we stepped aboard the Majesty of the Seas in Miami following our Friday evening wedding in the Florida keys!! A moment I waited a long time for. hazelson
Very romantic Skipper. My most memorable moment wasn't romantic at all. It was on our first cruise and I was absolutely sure I would get seasick. I was unpacking and putting things away and I told Dh I wish we could get started so I could get it over with - being sick I mean. He said we sailed away about half an hour ago...... and I never did get sick.
jacketwatch
Thats a tough one as there have been many. I suppose it has to be awakening the morning of our very first cruise and much to our surprise we were moving. We felt nothing. Pretty neat for us really. TheSkipper
Jacketwatch, Kind of the opposite of yours. I remember being at dinner the first night of a cruise and one of the ladies at our table asked "Can you feel that motion"? I looked out the window and we were still tied to the dock. saltydog
In 1995 aboard RCCL's, now gone, 'Song Of Norway' we had a memorable experience. A bunch of us old salts were sailing with a large group from the Navy Memorial Assn and were treated to a visit by a U.S. Navy frigate. We stopped in the Mediterranean and the frigate pulled alongside and commenced some incredible maneuvers and the crew manned the rails in dress whites and stood at attention as their ship loudspeaker played the National Anthem. There was not a dry eye on our ship. We had about 250 retired or veteran sailors aboard. Many of them were World War II vets. It was quite a moving experience. I don't believe the cruise lines would do anything like that anymore. Cheers Tim
elfed
See Hazelson's 'Have you ever had your picture with the Captain' for my reply to your great question. Regards, James.
SmooCruise
Tim.....I got teary eyed just reading this. That was VERY cool!!! What a tribute for those sailors and a treat for the rest of the ship!
SmooCruise
Mine is kinda corny...... Our cruise last year was much awaited for....I had been looking forward to it and dreaming about it for a year. One of the things I would daydream about was having coffee in the morning on my private balcony. We didn't have a balcony on our first cruise. So that first morning after we sailed I took my coffee, juice and pastry out to the balcony and was sitting out there watching the world sail by and it hit me....my dream is here!!! Then I started bawling. Hubby peeked out to see about me and found me crying. He asked me what was wrong and all I could say was "I'm so happy....I'm having coffee on my balcony..." He looked at me like I was crazy but smiled anyways. Except for the crying part, *LOL*, I repeated the coffee on the balcony every day for the rest of the cruise.
