Karen
Hi, We have a Hawaiian cruise booked for March 22 - 29 on Pride of America. Someone recently told us that it may be chilly and the plants not in bloom. Is that true? What are typical temeratures? When is the best time to cruise Hawaii? We're limited to holiday weeks and summer, due to teaching schedule. Would July or August be better? We plan to do lots of excursions. We're not "hang out on the beach" people, so if it's pleasantly cool weather, that's OK. I'm just hoping to get some great photos of plants, waterfalls, volcanoes, etc. We've heard mediocre reviews of the ship, so we're not expecting much in that regard. We just consider a roaming hotel the best way to see a lot of Hawaii at one time. Thanks. Karen
CanadianCruiser
HI Karen I would think being a teacher July and August may not be the best time to take a cruise, far too many children .....lol I have been told Hawaii has two seasons, winter and summer. The differences are the amount of rain and much less so the temperatures, especially from place to place. The average temperature year-round is 75º F Between the warmest weather in August and the coldest weather in January. The daytime temperature may vary 5 - 7º F. February is the most unpredictable month. The weather in the off-season travel period April through December and especially may actually be better than the weather during high-season. Winter runs from mid-October through April, daytime temperatures at sea level are in the mid-70s to low 80s. Nighttime temperatures run from the low 60s to the low 70s. Karen
Canadian Cruiser, thanks for the info. It's very helpful! So does it rain a lot in March? Will the flowers be in bloom?
mercedes
I took a cruise and a land vacation to Hawaii both times in June and the weather was great, there was the occasional rain shower, but they did not last long.
JohnG
February is the height of the rainy season (Dec-Mar). The flowers are always in bloom. February is also the peak of the whale watching season.
