Duct Tape

Hi:

Were taking our first cruise on Sept. 29th, 2007. I was looking on the Packing List and was wondering why Duck Tape is listed as a packing item?

Grat question, Nancy, and welcome to CruiseCrazies. Duct tape has a million uses. You can use it to fix a ripped suitcase or garment bag . You can use it to fix a hem on a dress or slacks.

Come on Crazies, what else???

(left) MORE Magazineâ€™s fashion and beauty director provide a pre-photo shoot "lift" to get a model ready for a shoot. The "lift" was accomplished with duct tape on top of surgical tape. (Source: November 2001 issue, More Magazine)

Honestly, I just don't get it....maybe I'm missing something..... :wacko:

I all the years I have been cruising, I have never needed anything like duct tape except once. That was last year on Carnival's Miracle. I had my grandson and one of his friends with me. The friend blew a zipper on his overstuffed suitcase..... I went to the pursers desk and they loaned me a HUGE roll of it. They just asked that I return what I didn't use. HA! Fortunately, only needed about 6 feet or so to wrap that sucker up real good.

I am a really, really light packer and just don't take anything I absolutely don't need. Only one other time did I wish I had something that I didn't have.....it was a hair dryer in Europe...so I ran to the bargain store, bought one for under 10.00 and gave it to the maid when I left.

Maybe the duct tape but about that bungee cord............................... :biggrin:

You can buy duct tape in a flat package so it takes virtually no room. We've used to to keep glass items securely wrapped. Wouldn't leave home without it as I know I'd need it if I left it behind.

Great for suitcase repair - makes quick work of tacking up a hem and - most importantly - for putting across your mouth at dinner so you don't eat that second dessert :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
