zebra
I was wondering how many people taking their laptops on a cruise with them. Personally I use the computers on board - especially if we cruise Princess... we get free computer use. Do you think it's worth the trouble to schlep it with you? Gregswife
I have always taken my laptop with me onboard, mainly to download pics. I now have a new digital camera with a card that holds over 600 pics, so I am not going to mess with carrying the laptop on our upcoming sailing. jacketwatch
Our son took his on our last cruise but has trouble at times getting a connection and could never get a connection form our room. I suppose this has to do with the wifi network availability. We were in the Baltic and I assume we were often out of range for a connection. He ended up using the ships PC. TheSkipper
NO way do I carry my laptop aboard. Just too much trouble. Use shipboard computers once or twice each cruise to let family know all is OK. I have several cards for my camerain the 1 and 2 GB range so there is no way I'm ever going to fill them with pictures. I carry the laptop when I travel on business, but not on vacation.

zebra
That makes ense.... we also have a 2 GB card in our digital. The only problem is that we like longer cruises - last year on the 12 day Med cruise I took 920 photo's - what I did was cut a couple of CD's onboard the Millennium. Why I did this is because after visiting so many different European ports, seeing so many churches, one forgets the names and where you were - so it was good to download, group them by port and label them before my "old" brain forgot where we were. Don't you just hate that.... you get home 2 weeks later and say to yourself, now where in the world did I take this picture!
mercedes
I use the computer on board to keep in touch with my family back home, and print out my boarding pass (I don’t have a lap top). I have several memory cards for my camera, so I don’t have a need to download pictures. Jackie, I type up the names of each port I am visiting and at the beginning of each day, take a picture of the name of the port, that way all pictures that are taken for that day will be for that particular port. KeithnRita
We've only taken the laptop once and it was a real pain in the rear. It was for a cruise out of Houston and we spent a couple days there before the cruise. I unfortunately had to do some work those two days.
