JoeyandDavid
hi honestokie, as Joe and Joan mentioned no need for you to be concerned.. Princess just wasn't the right fit for us... Ships.... Cruise lines and People in general have one thing in common they are not for everyone.. if they did we would have just one model of EVERYTHING! Just keep an open mind and don't worry.. even on the worse cruise of out life there was always something we enjoyed....Princess is a fine cruise line.. it just wasn't "OUR" cup of tea! I know I Can't wait to read your thoughts on the Grand in just a few months.... Joey
Bullwinkle39sAdventures
We cruise quite often and we did the Baltic on Princess a year ago. We were in a Vista Suite and missed the butler service we receive on Celebrity. For the amount of money we paid, I felt we should have received more in the way of service and amenities. Our room steward was quite nice but we had difficulties in the dining room. Needless to say Princess was not a good fit for us. We are very pleased with the service we have received on RCI and NCL. Celebrity has ALWAYS come through for us. Service just seems to be a little more professional and more consistent. On the other hand we have really had good luck on NCL. We just did the Pride of Aloha last month and received EXCELLENT service.
retdc
We have been on 17 cruises. Celebrity and Princess were some of the lines traveled. In our opinion. Celebrity tries too hard to accomodate the older crowd. We are CERTAINLY part of that OLDER crowd. I spent too many years to mention being required to dress and follow regimen while working. I refuse to continue especially while on vacation. Celebrity is a bit too snobbish for our tastes. We prefer what Princess offers and allows. Princess has become our line of choice. Sorry RCL ! We are still Crown & Anchor with RCL but have fallen in love with the Love Boat Line. !! Thank goodness for choice and variety. retdc

dandyjack
We just got back from our first impression of Princess...(the Golden).... we are here to say that in OUR humble Opinion Princess is in no way equal to Celebrity...... The small niceties that we love about Celebrity were not there .. the linen towels in the powder rooms was absent...and no bathroom steward on Formal nights.. .... the staff's courtesy as a whole ( you know the 3 foot rule where you " smile and acknowledge") was definitely missing.. Guest Service (cocktail servers, Table cleaners..etc were not as "punctual" as on celebrity.. And lastly...the food was not up to the same standard that we have become accustom to on Celebrity ....the specialty dining rated only fair on Princess.. And the buffet was abominable.. The ships themselves appear to be well maintained and CLEAN ....the bedding was fine for the class of stateroom we had. The golden did not offer a table for two for traditional dining which was a HUGE disapoinment to us... We understand that a lot of people love princess which is Great.. (especially for the Owners of Princess)... It is just Princess is not what we are looking for when it comes to our cruising experience. This again is only our opinion.. dandyjack
New member, but old cruiser. Over 70 cruises, been on almost every line. Celebrity is one of our favorites. Princess use to be one of the best, has gone down hill since being acquired by Carnival! Is Carnival trying to drag down all there acquired lines to there "FUN" standard? Dandyjack Dandy I think you may have hit the nail.... we noticed the same differences with Hal after the acquisition.. so it may be the head of the snake instead of the tail... Dan
Didn't really see much different from our pre-Carnival Princess cruise to our post-Carnival Princess cruise. Other than the natural evolution of cutbacks and service charges expected when the price of the cruise had dropped by almost 50% over several years. But we're obviously not as experienced as many of you here. As for HAL, I'm sure it's not the same as pre-Carnival, but then, the old model would have lead them to extinction had it not been for Carnival stepping in. Hi Dan our only experience with HAL was one pre Carnival (the Ryndam) and post Carnival(the Oosterdam) to us ....it was like night and day...
