Have you made friends on past cruises?

I was thinking about this lately because we've made a lot of friends on various cruises.

The first time we cruised to Alaska, our sons were 13 and 14 years old. The boys were in the camp onboard and many of the kids in that camp kept in touch as pen pals. My oldest son kept in touch w/ a boy from the east coast, and my youngest kept in touch w/ a girl from San Diego. They have remained such friends that they have attended each others' weddings!

On our Panama Canal cruise my hubby and I met two older ladies from Massachusetts. When my oldest son attended college in Rhode Island, we visited with the ladies, and they later came to California to stay with us. We've kept in touch with them since we met in 1999.

And our latest Alaska cruise produced new friends too. We sat at dinner with a couple from the Los Angeles area, and I was able to teach the woman my sweepstaking hobby. She has since joined my local sweep group that meets once a month and a few weeks ago we all attended a UCLA football game tgether (we won the tickets).

Have you made any longtime friends on your cruises?

On our very first cruise we met some folks from Alaska and have cruised with them five times since. On our Alaska cruise we spent a couple days with them in Anchorage. They've since relocated to Fort Worth, TX and have visited us a couple times and we been to their place once. We also met up with them in Tunica/Memphis for a long weekend.

Another couple we met on that same cruise was an over-the road truck driver couple who have visited a few times in their travels. On our second cruise we met a couple from Connecticut and we met up with them at Marco Island one year. On our last cruise we met a couple from the Orlando area and they paid us a visit at Siesta Key last May. We've exchanged Christmas cards with others, including some from England.

You meet the nicest folks on sea cruises. That's one of the many reasons we love to cruise.:mellow:

We met a couple from Kentucky when we were on the Grand in 1999. Very nice people. We kept in touch over the years, and went with them on the Sapphire in 2006. They've been here a couple times in the last year and we've been to their place once last year as well.

There have been a few others that we kept in touch with over the years, but no one else we've seen.

We have met many wonderful people too. We have several couple that we have kept up with and have been able to cruise with one of them too. A friend sailed out of Port Canaveral in October and we went to have dinner with them the night before.

We also get and send Christmas cards to many of them. Great memories!

Several years ago we met 3 other couples on a cruise and the 8 of us hit it off right from the start. We still see each other every few months despite living several hours apart. In fact, four of the six will be arriving at our house Friday morning for a long weekend and hopefully we will plan our next cruise when they are here. We have cruised together several times since meeting.

Mike and I met a couple on our last cruise. Angie and Nate were on their honeymoon, and our dinner tables were right next to each other. So we met at 6:30 each night. We had so many things in common. Angie, Nate and I are teachers.

There were also many other coincidences as well. We learned they were also from Illinois a few hours north of us. We attended shows and the night clubs together. We really enjoyed their company. We learned we were booked on the same flight home!!!!!! We were 2 rows in front of them, and felt bad for the people sitting behind us. We had great conversation even on the flight home.

Since our last cruise with them, I've introduced Angie to CruiseCrazies and she loves it! We have gotten together at the ballpark and they visited us at our home a month ago. We will meet again up north to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra with them in December. We have also booked our next cruise together. They are truly wonderful friends and don't think we could meet anyone else like them on another cruise.

Glad to hear other people have found other close friends doing what they love - Cruising!
