All of my cruises have been on what i now call small ships (60,000 to 80,000 tons) my next cruise in the spring of 2008 will be on carnivals triumph (8 day may 24th ) a bit bigger than past cruises.

The only other carnival ship i have been on is the Elation and loved it.

Has anyone been on this ship and what are your thoughts on big or little and this ship.

Thanks Mr Bill

I think that there are advantages to both large and small ships. If you liked the Elation, you will like the Triumph also. Carnival has come a long way since the Elation was built.

But, to answer you question in general I prefer large ships for long cruises with lots of at sea time and smaller ships for port intensive cruises. More to do on larger ships and easier on and off and more relaxing on the smaller ships. :wink2:

I've never sailed Carnival but I have done 74 cruises. Royal Caribbean is my favorite cruise line so far ( 59

cruises ). I just got home yesterday from the Monarch of the Seas and I fly out Sunday for four days on the Brilliance. I haven't sailed their mega ships but I love the Radiance class which is what the Brilliance is. It is 90,000 tons and holds 2500 passengers - same as the other three ships in that class. It's a perfect size in my opinion - though I still love the Monarch ( my first RCL ship and I just completed my 17th cruise on her ). She is just 73,000 tons and holds 2700 passengers.

Of course, RCL has the Freedom and Liberty which are 160,000 tons and hold 3600 passengers. I am sure I will sail on them eventually but that is a bit too large for my tastes.
