For me, I'd rather know, right up front, exactly what the cruise is going to cost....I think it's misleading the way they do it now. You think you're getting such a terrific deal but it really adds up when the taxes and "noncommissionable fees - why don't they just use the old "port charges" term - dollars are added.

I agree, I wish they would give you the actual cost along with the fuel surcharges also. I think they do it the way they do for the same reason gas stations use 9 tenths of a cent. What ever it takes to get your attention. Marketing strategy

so true .. but I think that the consumer is a bit more wise than the marketing divisons give them credit for...

not by much but they are smarter :wink2:

Same as The Skipper, the quote must be total--except for drinks and tips. We only book a cruise when we have a confirmed price, including port charges, travel insurance, airfare, transfer, hotel, etc.

I'm in the quoting business and when I figure a fabrication job it's complete according to the specifications. We have been dealing with freight fuel surcharges for some time now in raw steel. In stainless steel we've been dealing with surcharges on nickel, which has been running higher per pound than the actual cost of the material.
