JoeyandDavid
Are there any specific Ports of Call that you simply refused to get off the ship?

RNSANE
I don't get off anymore in places that I've been to dozens of times - normally I stay on in Ensenada, Cozumel....Key West ( I've vacationed there on land, visited five times cruising ) - seldom get off in Nassau as I've spent over a month there in the last twenty years. If it's a new port, I'll usually get off, though I will rarely take the ship's tours unless it's in a place like VietNam or someplace really far from the ship like Rome. Often, if it's a 12 day cruise and I've met other passengers, we'll share a taxi and do a tour. Carmen aka RNSANE
TheSkipper
No, we get off at all the ports even if we have visited them many, many times. Every trip is a different adventure. Never been bothered in any ports of call. Perhaps it's my Special Forces T Shirt that says "Mess with the best, die like the rest" that does it. Just kidding, gang. RNSANE
Sometimes we are having so much fun on the ship - crusing with my "Forensic Friends" buddies ( we have made Joey an honorary member ) - or could it be that we have been at the Schooner Bar so long we can't navigate on dry land? At any rate, many times, we just stay on board and enjoy the scenery from a barstool. Carmen
Sunbeam
We get off the ship in every port, even if some of them we have seen them many times. I usually research the ports before the cruise to try to find something new to do.
zebra
Only one port we absolutely can't stand - NASSAU!! We have been there a half a dozen times and after the first 2 times off the ship we have decided to stay onboard in port. It is definitely our least favorite destination. All the rest that we have visited many times over and over again - we still always find great things to do, especially that we always try to do different things each time. Our favorite is to rent a car for the day.... and explore on our own.
RNSANE
I get off in Nassau only with crew friends to occasionally eat at an excellent restaurant, Cafe Matisse, near Parliament....or to go for raw conch salad, made fresh by the bridge going to Paradise Island. There are pretty areas of Nassau, leaving the downtown area. I've spent several weeks there, in years past, when I was on the board of directors for northern CA Caribbean Tourism - but the best place I stayed in the Bahama was Eleuthera at Windemere Island Club...when all of us went as guests. The island is 2 miles wide and 12 miles long and is beautiful. Nassau is so crowded and dirty.....I do love conch - cracked, raw, chowder...but, their fritters have a random piece in too much batter. I LOVE guava duff, a wonderful dessert, when I can find....WOE IS ME - I DO LOVE FOOD!
