We saw a group with a tour guide explaining the architecture to them at San Marco... but you could do the same with a good Frommers book in hand. We loved walking around Venice with Gail and Paul, we walked all along the canals, stopped for lunch or libations :) when you're tired take a gondola ride. LOL Yes Joey, that's exactly what I was saying in some areas private guides are nice, but I agree with Jackie Venice is not one of those places. BTW: loved your crown!
