If you look at the reviews, every ship gets bad reviews and good reviews. If the bad reviews outweigh the good ones, then I may rethink the cruise. Also, if everyone complains about one or two certain things (quality of food, cleanlness, service, etc.), then I can be more influenced by the reviews. I've been on ships that have gotten unfavorable reviews, and have found that all the things that those people complain about were not true. There are some people out there who cannot ever be satisfied.

I think it would depend on what the review stated... It would also depend on if this poster had a "reputation" for posting negative reviews..

I don't think that one individual review would change my plans but would cause me maybe to do additional research on my own...

Great Question!

I think one person's bad experience is another person's great experience. I don't believe any ship on the high seas will receive a 5 star rating from every single guest. There's always someone who is not satisfied. So basically never expect perfection and never believe a negative review unless it is from someone you know and respect. I find by and large the professional reviews of a ship are generally fair. But I have to admit I'm rather bias when it comes to NCL. Having read their attempts to bleed as much extra money out of their guests as they can and listening to people who have travelled on their ships-I don't like what I hear! But there again some people will ignore the negatives and still cruise with NCL.

Regards,

James.

A lot, for me, depends on who is doing the review. If it is someone who is a frequent cruiser and reviews from an objective perspective, then that may hold more weight for me. In my travels, I also spend a lot of time talking to my fellow travelers so I get some ideas from them about their cruise choices. I take much of what people say with a grain of salt. I'm more a stickler about cleanliness, etc, than I am about many thinks....or safety issues. When I read a review, if I know the hotel director - as I might well do with Royal Caribbean, I will email him directly and ask what's up. I tend to go back to ships I know I like rather than venture out on a new one, especially with a line that I've had questions about in the past. There are some that I won't even consider...based on feedback I've consistently gotten...and I won't say them here.

But doesn't that limit your opportunity for new expierences?...Except for the Monarch all of our cruises have been on different ships..
