Did the Costa Fortuna Thanksgiving cruise (Caribbean). My 1st time on Costa and loved the line and would definitely sail on them again. The trip was a Little different from sailing on mainstream US type lines. The food was very Italian (Not Olive Garden) and had a lot of Europeans on board. The ship does not sail until 7PM due to the fact that it waits for a charter from Italy to arrive. I would advise trying this line to see if you like it.

Hello Jackie and Tony,

Well Costa was my very first cruise line but sadly the ship (Costa Riviera) has been scrapped. However it was the best cruise I have been on. I went with my then 16year old son. He had a great time as I did. That was way back in the late 1980's. I've heard mixed reviews of the new ships of Costa but like all cruises it's what you put into it, not to expect perfection and just enjoy the experience. I'm sure you'll enjoy the European ambience of their ships.

Regards, James.

We sailed on the Costa Atlantica her first season in the Caribbean. We loved, loved , loved Costa. The ship is the exact same model as the Carnival Spirit which we booked to Mexico specifically because we loved the Atlantica so much. We immersed ourselves in the European culture on board. My mother was from Germany and I speak fluent German so I met many cruisers that I could converse in German with. My husband's mother was from Sicily so we took Italian lessons to brush up on our Italian and conversed with the crew. The food was right up our alley . . . Italian cuisine. Excellent. I give Costa an A+ for ambiance, service, style and food. Meanwhile, I just got an e-mail from our dear traveling partners who are on the Costa Med. as we write this. They said the ship was gorgeous, the food terrific, and the ports of call great. I second the vote for the Toga Party and the great Caesar with the thumbs up/thumbs down talent show. How many of the guests were carted off to be fed to the lions? I don't know but I was laughing too hard to keep count! What a fabulous time! Bigred

We did the Costa Classica in February 2004. We enjoyed the size of the interior cabin. The food was really good, but really good (I am a very picky eater). Loved the european touch in the decoration especially the sofas in italian leather.

We did not have the Toga Party. I wonder if it is because we were sailing in the Caribbean.

The only downfall, is that everything is in Euros on the ship. If you know in advance, it is not a big problem.

Costa Magica to Bermuda in April 2007. Great time, good ship, good food. Very disappointed in cannoli. Being from New Jersey we know what good cannoli should taste like . . . . Costa's did not make the grade.

However, that was the only negative comment we had and we would use Costa again.
