deb1220
For us it's the itinerary, then the cruise line. We like to visit at least one port per cruise that we've never been to before.
Joanandjoe
Because of the limited vacation windows that I have each year, we start out by seeing what each acceptable cruise line (Regent, Windstar, HAL, Oceania, maybe X) Has during that period. There usually are only a handful of possibilities. Then we decide based on all of the factors mentioned by Joey, plus price. Lastly, we compare the top choices with various possible land tours. In effect, then, it's all of the above, plus price. We wouldn't consider an inside, and our need or lack of need for a balcony depends on the ship and the itinerary. We enjoy Windstar, for example, and that has no balcony rooms. Location for us means not being under or above noisy places, and preferably means being in the middle of the ship. KeithnRita
Have you ever sailed aboard a ship and met or seen a "celebrity" on board?? On our last cruise we met and became friendly with the retired Scottish standup comedian/actor, Alex "Happy" Howden and his lovely wife. His last movie role was a bit part as the hangman in Gangs of New York. Since a Cruise Crazies group cruise is being discussed for late '09 the question for today is: Do you usually travel with others (friends, relatives) or do you generally travel with only your partner? We prefer just us as a couple, however an occasional group cruise is okay. Todays Question: When booking a cruise .. which aspect is most important?... Cabin type? cabin location? cruise line? ship? Itinerary? something else? Cabin type does not matter, mid-ship location is preferred by Rita.
sailingrose
Sometimes it's just the getting away from it all that's important. Don't worry too much about itinerary anymore especially in the caribbean. We always travel with a balcony on trips of 7 days or longer. hazelson
Have to have a balcony - so once the itinerary is chosen then it has to be the cabin.
TheSkipper
Todays Question: When booking a cruise .. which aspect is most important?... Cabin type? cabin location? cruise line? ship? Itinerary? something else? For us it is itinerary first, followed by ship (which includes cruise line), then cabin type and location. We have sailed in everything from an inside cabin to a suite. What type we book depends on the itinerary and the "deals" being offered. For example on our upcoming Azamara cruise after I'd seen it offered for a very good price, I called our Agent who said "If one of you is a Senior you can move up 4 categories and lower the price by $400 per person. That was a "no brainer."
kmills
I would have to say the itinerary would be important to us but I would have to have a balacony. After the first time in the bat cave we would not go back there.
cruisetarp
Definately itinerary is the prime consideration when picking a cruise. After that cruise line, then the location of our Balcony cabin.
zebra
As most of the above have said...... Itinerary first which usually narrows down the cruise line, then we try for an Aft balcony otherwise an other balcony in a quiet part of the ship. We don't mind the ships movement so front, back or middle is fine just as long as there is no noise above or below.
