Question of the day

Have you ever sailed aboard a ship and met or seen a "celebrity" on board??

No but Soupy Sales was once on my flight back to WV

I met Leonard Maltin (movie critic) last summer on the QM2 sailing. We were in Bergen, sitting on the same bench, so we started chatting.

We sailed with the entire cast from "The Nanny" aboard Celebrity's Century. They filmed an episode aboard.

Had breakfast at DFW with Lee Greenwood on my way to a cruise years ago. He even picked up the tab.

I was so surprised to see him sitting in the back row of this prop plane.. this must have been 20 years ago.... maybe twenty five.. you know he called Huntington Home during his high school days.. graduating from Huntington High school as well as Marshall University...!

When I worked in NYC, I probably saw a celebrity once a week, either walking through the Theater District on my way to the Port Authority Terminal, or near the studios where TV shows are shot. I also see members of the local sports teams (mostly Yankees and football Giants) on occasion, and stood next to Jim Henson on line for a flight from London to NYC. You, however, were asking about cruises.

On our jazz cruise on the Regent Seven Seas Navigator in September, 2003, we had 11 jazz musicians on board, many of them famous. They mingled with the PAX, and we saw them a lot: in lounges, at the pool, in restaurants, and onshore. The most famous of them, Bucky Pizzarelli, was on our small puddle jumper from Newark to Montreal, on the shuttle to the ship, on our van in Halifax, and elsewhere.

No sightings on ship but I did see Pat Boone in a hotel lobby once....my brush with fame lol. And the "Mom" on "Growing Pains" - Joanna Kerns, was scouting out a restaurant (for a movie) while we were eating ... and she came over and apologized to us for any inconvenience. She is really short lol....about 5' 2".

Almost forgot. Met Dolly Parton at London's Heathrow airport. She is really short. Five feet, nothing. She was surrounded by about 25 wig cases. She had done a command performance for the Queen the night before. With her being as short as she is compared to the size of her other assets it's a wonder she does not tip forward and fall on her face!!

But, then again we were talking about cruises.

I bet if she did she would bounce back up!!

We did fly back from South Africa with Lou Gossett Jr. on one of our trips. My goodness I had no idea how tall he was... about 6' 6", just as well he was flying 1st class.
