Royal Caribbean fuel surcharge recall

As some of you may know RCI had to give refunds for their fuel price increases. I called them today and was informed that this refund applies to cruises purchased B4 Nov. 17th (I think) 2008. Anyway it was sometime in Nov. and as I booked in Dec. I thought it would not apply to us. Then I looked online at my CC statement. I just charged the balance of our May cruise a few days ago and today there is a credit from RCI for $58.00. I wonder why as I thought the refunds wouild come in the form of OBC's. I'll have to call the booking agent (Costco) and find out. Anyone else sailing with RCI who had this expereince?

Celebrity;'s website won't let me apply a payment currently.... which is strange.... maybe they are in teh process of programming...

As a f/u I just noticed ANOTHER credit from RCI on my cc statement. This one is for $70.00. Yes!! :biggrin:

wow I can apply payments now but I haven't gotten my refund yet.... I will put it on my to do list for Monday to call and follow up..thanks for the reminder.. and congrats on the extra 70!!

You're welcome. BTW my initail understanding was that the $ would come as OBC, not refunds to the CC. Would you mind letting me know how yours is being handled? Thank you. Larry

Larry what they originally told me .... it would be refunded to the card ...considering the voyage is not till December...I thought that was reasonable... but It should have happened by now.. I would have thought,..I will let you know ....

OK. BTW I looked at the RCI web site. It said the max. credit would be for $70.00 applied as a CC refund if the booking was B4 Nov. 16th and as an OBC if after that date. That still doesn't explain the other $58.00 credit. Oh well. SHHHH! :biggrin: I suppose I can figure out what to do w/ it. :smile:
