JoeyandDavid
I continue to be amazed in todays cruising scene... they(the cruise brands) provide everything from ice skating and rock climbing to now having a front lawn .... Has the cruise Industry gone over the deep end as far as trying to "entertain passengers with the amenities.. Do you feel they should stop the Dramatic add ons and get the basics correct first?....Or is your attitude ..bring em on ...??
rogue
Actually, I like all of the new amenities. We will not use everything that any ship offers, but some things we will. We won't go rock climbing, but loved the ice show. The idea of feeling grass between my toes in the middle of the ocean can be appealing. All the new things are not our taste, gut the cruise is what I make of it, so the more choices I have, the better I can make the cruise. Great question, Joey. RNSANE
I didn't use half the old amenities but it's nice to have a good assortment of choices for folks...kind of keeps the ship from feeling overly crowded and makes cruises attractive to passengers of all ages. I think they have the service part pretty well under control - as long as they keep that running smoothly, I'll be happy.
TheSkipper
I tend to think that they should get their act together before adding new amenities. I still like to feel I'm on a ship not at Disneyland. But, I also understand that the lines are aways looking for new profit centers which leads to a lot of these new "amenities." Interesting question.
terumim
i understand why they do what they do..but i wouldlike to see the cruise lines give something back to the cruisers who are loyal .. not just the ones who want to see the things on the ships one time.. like instead of the booklet on my bed maybe a free dinner for two.. at the speciality restuarant... maybe a free coffeecard for speciality coffee's ... maybe a free spa treatment... but i guess they feel the other things are more important Tonia
Joanandjoe
We're squarely in the camp of "get things right". One of the reasons we like small ships is that they don't have huge amounts of sapace taken up with rock climbing, bowling alleys, grass, etc. A classic remedy for sea sickness is to lean against a tree; i.e, be on land. I have no desire to see a tree, or grass, on a ship.
Lisa63
I don't mind the amenities so much as, as others have mentioned, it's up to me whether or not to use them. And, the more people using the rock wall, the more room there is for me to read my book on an outdoor promenade deck. I do long for the smaller ships, however. Something in the 30K-50K range would suit me just fine. I've also found that it's getting harder to tell one line from another, especially in the Caribbean. When we were in St. Maarten a couple of years ago, we shared the dock with three other ships. I heard the announcements from one of these neighboring ships, and thought it was from our ship... deb1220
I understand why they have all the new amenities. It attracts families and younger cruisers. I myself prefer the basics and wish they'd concentrate on perfecting those.
Nat
We are three family's of ten people in ages from 11-70! It works for us because of the many things to do or not to do and everyone is happy! For the money and being able to travel with our family its the only way to go where there is something for everyone! My Dad just wants to chill by the pool, while Mom shops! My sister and I are usually at the bar...lol!!! And the kids are off and running having a ball with all the rock wall, ping pong, ect. What do our husbands do , not sure...ha ha!! hazelson
If it doesn't interest us we don't use it - and most things aren't really "in your face" obtrusive so we just go with the flow.
