JoeyandDavid
The last Question of the Day for April!!! Todays Question: You often hear on day of departure over the speakers throughout the ship ...names of passengers being called to come to the pursers deck (and i know most of us think ... another one over spent!) so this leads me to our question..How often do you check your onboard account when your on a cruise? rogue
I usually only check it when I get the print-out on the last day. We rarely (if ever) go over our budgetted spending on-board. We always make sure that the credit card we use on the ship starts with a zero balance so we will not have any problems.
Joanandjoe
We usually check it every three days or so. If there are surprises, we want to know ASAP so the cruise line can make corrections.
kmills
I check about middle week. I keep a record myself of what we spend so I always have an idea.
DebbieandJerry
We save all of the receipts. Had two separate Carnival cruises where we were charged for someone else's expenses. Both times, the receipts expedited the corrections. Both times, it was a misread of the room number (so much for trying to read the name) On the 7-day cruises, we tend to check the bill about day 5. Eventhough we present a credit card, we settle with cash at the end. On the longer ones, however, we check more frequently using the in-room t.v. Have to say that the Pursers do an outstanding job. We were in Cozumel and had done some shopping. After we left, the Purser's office alerted us of a credit card problem. Evidently, the store in Cozumel swipped the credit card a number of times in a row. By the time we set off, the credit card company had put a hold on the card because they thought it had been fraudulently used in a foreign country. The Purser's office personnel helped us take care of this so that we were able to enjoy the rest of our vacation. (The swiping, by the way, was totally unintentional and no fraudulent charges were put on the card.) How many of you let your credit card company know that you are travelling out of the country? After this incident, we let them know all the time. And yes, we travel with a zero balance card, too. Makes accounting clean and simple. When David or I use our card we put the receipt in the envelope and every couple days or so I go about balancing the sheet...I must admit I rarely find mistakes... but occasionally I do... which is enough for me to keep a closer eye .. sailingrose
I usually check once in 7 days. I always check if I'm supposed to have an onboard credit in the first day or 2.
Joanandjoe
How many of you let your credit card company know that you are travelling out of the country? I think that should be the opening question for the May Cruise Question of the Day thread. Rose, good point about the onboard credit. We check for that very early in the cruise. It has been messed up about half the time.

DebbieandJerry
Okay: Gotta clarify on the credit card. Our credit card is linked with a local credit union. We have been with the credit union for over 30 years. Same folks; they know us (by name) and know that we hardly ever use the credit card (except when travelling). So, I let them know when we're travelling. I guess it's part of the customer service that we still have.
