jacketwatch
At least according to a compilation of scores and averages gleaned from x passenger reviews. Just for fun I averaged all the members ratings for these lines. Listed below are the averages based on the total number of reviews submitted and the total number of reviews. RCI and X lead the way: 1. RCI, 4.67, 4622 reviews. 2. X, 4.57, 1300 reviews. 3. HAL, 4.31, 1166 reviews. 4. Princess, 4.29, 2809 reviews. 5. CCL, 4.23, 5299 reviews. 6. NCL, 4.00, 2932 reviews 7. Costa, 3.88, 293 reviews. I realize we all have our opinions and I'm not trying to say one line is better than another. For me I am very impressed with how X/RCI rated. They must be doing something very well. As we will be on the AOS in late May I hope to see it for myself. Cheers, Larry BTW regent averaged 5 across the board based on 81 reviews. JoeyandDavid
interesting... I also found it interesting that only 0.67 seperates first and sixth palce ..
jacketwatch
Its interesting to look at this. As the ratings go up to 5 that 0.67 represents around 13% if my math is correct. I mean if you rate up to 5 then each one is about 20% to equal 100% so 1 point or score is actually more than it seems. I think.

rogue
If you change the ratings to be 100 based (like were used to from school), then they show a much larger difference: RCI 93.4 X 91.4 HAL 86.2 Princess 85.8 CCL 84.6 NCL 80.0 Costa 77.6 So they go from a couple with A's, to one with just a C, and in some places may be a D. jacketwatch
That is how I see it too and it roughly fits pretty much all I have heard about these lines.

I think the results are interesting...but then again ... I feel you have to question the validity of the respondents as well.... meaning... were the standards for all reviews equal.. that i doubt.. but it is interesting

We can honestly agree with this analysis. RCI and X are our favorite cruiselines, by far!

These are reviews of individual passengers and as such will vary according to various tastes. Also some "professional" reviewers could have their own slants or biases as well. There is one gal on Fodors who is a professioanl TA w/ hundreds of cruises under her belt yet her biases are evident. I think the volume of respondents is significant and points to some consistency.
