JoeyandDavid
Everyone talks about dining and eating when on a cruise...this leads me to the following polls all about having dinner while on a cruise.... What size table do you prefer? At what time do you like to eat?....
cruisetarp
We like a big table for dinner. We enjoy meeting new people and we have a table for 2 every night for dinner. With a small table there is always a chance you won't have anything in common with your tablemates. We usually have early seating. Spend too much time nibbling on snacks waiting for late seating and then don't have an appetite.

LaurieM
In our youth we dined late, but now we prefer the early seating. We've had tables for as many as 8- sometimes it has been filled with our friends and family and other times we traveled alone, so we met new people. Sometimes it has been pleasant- interesting people- perhaps not someone you'd spend alot of time with , but nice companions for an hour or so. Then there were the horror stories--The Canadians who spoke in French to one another with a few words to us from time to time, the "low-speakers" who muttered continually- I have no idea what she said! ( we were at a table for 8- 3 separate couples- the 3rd couple beat us to leaving the table and we didn't want to offend the older couple by leaving as well- although since it was an 11 night cruise, I have since decided that sometimes you have to just go.) And the complainers- why do they ever leave their homes?

Longboysfan
After the first cruise - we always go late. Relax and enjoy. Table size does not matter.
sailingrose
Split vote in our home.....early for Howie, late for me. A lot depends on the length of time in port. Really don't like rushing to get to dinner.
Joanandjoe
On Regent and Windstar, which are small ships, there's open seating, and we love it. We haven't tried open dining on a big ship. We had late dining only once, and hated it. We're such earlybirds that we were hungry when the early shift started (but it was full), and ended up eating so much at the bar and from room service that it ruined dinner. Never again. Our cruising ambition is to cruise with friends and/or family; but none of them are cruisers. Until we realize that ambition, we'll try to get tables for two. Somehow, every time we had a big table (three or four times), there were four or six people together, and we never got included in the conversation. Maybe we've just been unlucky in our table companions.
rogue
We like larger tables. It is nice to meet new people. If there were problem people at the table, I wouldn't be against changing tables. We like to eat late. We tend to eat less, and it is much more relaxing for us.
