JoeyandDavid
howard i have a question for you and the mrs... since you both are nurses do you guys tend to pack a pair of scrubs to lounge in on board? Never ever. Nothing to remind us of work. I have never even visited the ship infirmary. We cruise to get away from everything. I find it hard to understand how people even go into the computer cafes on board or use their laptops. if i didn't use my laptop I would never write a review.. my reviews are done in pieces daily.. and refined at the end.. there is no way i could take notes as efficiently by hand..(I am too lazy) Plus i have extra sleep time entertainment on mine.. What you do is OK. I just can't understand how people bring their computers on a cruise, but still are at work. IMHO, that defeats the whole purpose of being out of site of most civilization. There are quiet a few things people do I don't understand...

PATJUD
Well now - in defense of visiting the computer cafes on board ship - they are some people at home that some of us have to keep in touch with and check on. It's not easy not being in contact with certain relatives and friends at home during a one week cruise and this one is going to be a two week cruise. During the course of two weeks - someone at home could have passed away and been buried and being out of contact - we wouldn't even know it. I know that's extreme but I can't be unconnected for a week or more - no business but home contact is needed - at least by me - LOL!!! I wouldn't bring a lap top but I am trying to find out if BlackBerrys with internet connection can be used while aboard ship and how. I did get some info on our site here the other day. cruisetarp
Judson - I'm with you but will be bringing a laptop with me. I bring it mostly for the road portion of our trip. Two years ago ended up booked into a really dirty hotel along the way (my fault) but with my laptop was able to find another and move. After that I never travel without mine. Sorry I can't help you with the blackberry - on our PC cruise there was a lady in the concierge lounge raising h**l with them because her's wouldn't work but I don't know how it ended up. I did see her on the computer in there later in the week. I also need to be able to stay in touch with my family - especially on such a long cruise. lashl
We never use the computer on board. If we need to contact home we usually do it by cell phone from an island. We have some kind of international phone plan with AT&T. The main reason we don't use the internet is both work places would be leaving e-mails. Like Howard, when we go on vacation we want to get away from everything!

For us, the relatives that would need to contact us know how to do it. If we don't hear from them, everything is fine. Nobody from work knows how to contact me, and that's the way it will stay.
