55ChevyLady
Here is a quick informal question.. how often do you check your booking on Celebrity.com haven't in awhile, mainly bec. it makes me too anxious waiting for Nov. and everybody has been saying it is down all the time, plus the excursions are not up yet...but if I have to pay a fuel supp. charge there goes any extra excursions I wanted to do. but now that you have mentioned it I probably will...but will have to do it when I do not have prying eyes around... Andrea .. sometimes the best outings are when you go out on your own.. sometime shore excursions are way over rated... yes, you're right...guess that is what I'll do. you know, a country girl can survive! JohnG
QUOTE Good morning John. We were just talking on our thread and see that Celebrity has now added a disclaimer to our reservation page that they can reinstate the fuel supplement at any time. Since that notice wasn't there yesterday - it looks like it will be doing just that soon. Several of us were wondering if we made our final payment now would we be exempt from the surcharge or would they bill us for it despite being Paid In Full. On the 13 days cruise it could add up to a bit of spending money. Could you please see what you can find out and let us know. Thanks END QUOTE _________________________________________________________ Every cruise line has had the disclaimer on their documents issued ever since the fuel surcharge was removed last year, that they had the right to reinstate it if the price of oil went over some specified level. It is not a new addition. And every Celebrity reservation agent includes it in their "speil" when you book with them. I have been hearing it from every cruise line reservation department daily since last December. They haven't reapplied it yet. Carnival Corp. stated publically the other day that although oil is over the stated threshold level, they do not intend to reinstate the charge due to the poor economy. They are the only corporation to publically discuss it. That would cover CCL, Cunard, Princess, Holland, Seabourn, and Costa. RCL/Celebrity hasn't spoken publicly yet. I suspect that it will apply to all booking, including paid in full, if it occurs. Princess and Holland America often have some last minute change in port charges and taxes and they do apply even to paid in full bookings unless it is under something like $5. PATJUD
$260.00 for two people added back into the cost of this cruise would be a BIG jolt. I do remember that the price set for considering adding the fuel supplement back was when the cost hit $70.00 a barrel and as I said, it did that a couple days ago. That has put the cost of regular gas up to $2.50 a gallon and it has been below $2.00 a gallon for months.

PATJUD
Oil topped $71 for a short time June 10 after closing June 9 above $70 a barrel for the first time in seven months. But unlike the last explosion in prices — to $147 a barrel 11 months ago — no one seems to be ruling out a role on the part of speculation. JohnG
We can still get gas at $2.37 per gallon here in Eastern Virginia.
JoeyandDavid
ok back to the cruise.... LOL .... Unless policy changes guests are allowed to bring on board at embarkation two bottles of wine per stateroom. These are the "standard" 750ml bottles....Can i see a show of hands that will NOT be taking wine on board.
