PATJUD
Heyyyyyyyyyyyy All, I've never done the taxi thing at a port. I one of those that wants it all laid out in advance. I'm not tired of the Caribbean. It's more my favorite area than Louise's as she doesn't do very much sun at all. I need to consider some different places for her and I know she would really enjoy one of the European River cruises. So, I'm getting some info together to look at. cruisetarp
We have just hired a cab at the port a few times with good results but on other occasions have not done very well so we tend to stick with established tour companies. I think I would feel differently if it were more than just Jim & I going off on our own.
PATJUD
I really prefer the tours from the cruise ship unless someone from the group that I'm with has planned something - like the two that have been planned by members of this group. I'm not real happy with the thought of getting off a ship and trying to grab something on the spot. Everything that we do will most likely be planned and booked way in advance of the cruise. I'm also not one of those that could get in a car and just head out for a vacation. That would just do me in. I need to know where I'm going and have a reservation at that place for the night. Shaunna
What is scary is considering it and saying no and then getting back on board and hearing horror stories of what you almost got yourself into. I agree...if we do it we stick to what we feel are trusted companies.

Carnival docked at a new pier, which is about 4 miles from the center of town...had no choice but to hire a taxi...wasn't real comfortable with it, beings it was our first experience hiring taxis at a port, but all turned out well. deb1220
We did the same thing in Cozumel, Andrea. It was either that or walk - LOL! We have hired a taxi-tour in port (not pre-arranged) before, but only with a group of people. It all worked out well and was much cheaper than a comparable cruise excursion. JohnG
Hyperion is Paula's reason for booking this cruise. Close friends. We like the broadway style reviews the best.
