For the ones coming in early for this cruise....Is there any interest in a day trip to southbeach??

I would surely be interested in the details for such a tour. I know some of the details depend on where we wind up crashing for the pre-cruise days - Ft Lauderdale or Miami.

A day trip to South Beach doesn't hold much interest for us, not really into topless sunbathing  - been there twice during the day and it's soooo crowded, hot and muggy, too many sweaty bodies for me! The evenings are prettier and of course the nightlife is supposed to be amazing. Just our opinion.

If we stay in Miami then it's a possibility, if we stay in FLL then we wouldn't do the trek to South Beach. But it's probably unfair, because we are Floridians and have beautiful beaches where we live, we also have the same Cuban and Spanish food - so it's obviously up for the vote for the entire group.

Joey - if we come in 2 days early we would be interested in going to South Beach. If we come in the day before we will need that day for Jim to just relax after the long drive and he'll just want to sit by the pool and unwind. (We'll probably need a day to begin talking to each other again, after 3 days on the road together. hehe)

Were probably coming in one day early, and probably wouldn't be interested in South Beach. Were not driving in, so we should still be talking, but you never know.

David hasnt been to Key West before.. so we may add that to our pre cruise mix.. of course that would be an overnighter.. that means we would have to fly in afew days early rent a car and .....blah blah blah i think if memory serves KW is about a 3 hour drive from MIA? can anyone confirm?

Yeah Joey you are right. That would be an outstanding trip for you guys. I know you've been there - but we love Key West, especially the sunsets at the restaurant at the end of the pier... OMG!!! There also a little leather sandal shop that I can't keep out of.

It seems as Key West is only 100 miles south of Miami that to come to Miami and not see KW would be a shame. Also we LOVE the drive down through each of the Keys.... all those smaller Keys are so interesting. We spent a week driving down there and would love to do that again... it's a very special trip.

Only 100 miles .. wow!.. that is close... I don't know why i was thinking 3 hours  .. thanks Jackie..

I think it's about 120 miles and 3 hours is right because you drive through many Keys, each of which has like 35 - 45 MPH speed limits, traffic lights etc - it's not like driving all the way on a highway. Enjoy the trip.... that's part of the interest in that part of the world.
