Joey my brother and his wife have now adopted 7 children most of whom have medical challenges but all were either removed from their previous home from neglect or abuse.When you consider home schooling also please remember sometimes they need friends. I am unaware from where you will be adopting but I have seen so much pain with these children.

Ruth I do appreciate your words of first hand knowledge ..and believe me when I say although we try to look at it from every possible angle I am sure that we are missing an angel or two.

I am very very aware of the need for the young ones to develop social skills .. and in fact if we do choose that first year to home school .. that is where the YMCA will come into play as far as peer interaction.

Our child will most likely come from the foster -care unit of the California Department of Social Services..

Hey Joey, the talk about going Key West is getting me excited! Love to go back there again. Browsing thru RCL site, there is a three night cruise on the Jewel of the Seas that sails on Nov 6. Miami > Key West > Nassau > Miami. It returns on the 9th. Prices start at $349pp. Maybe a warmup cruise to our group sailing?

Ray - I've been thinking the same thing - the only problem is that we'll be in South Africa at that time... and at the moment we don't know if we'll stay in South Africa for a few months, due to our daughter having her first baby on January 2nd. We may or may not stay. If we don't stay then I'm going to have to fly back to see the baby. SO our lives are in upheaval over the next few months, no cruise planning I guess.

Jackie - I believe the cruise Ray is referring to is November 2009 getting back into Miami just in time for anyone on that cruise to change ships and board the Connie for our cruise. Sounds mighty tempting.

I wish that we could get all of that time off. It will never work out.
