PATJUD
Thanks all!!! I HATE COLD WEATHER TOO - JEEEEEEEEEESH!!! I'm really not sure about dressing for Alaska in September. I've read all the comments about layer dressing. I'm still not sure if the weather will really be cold or not. I hear that it could be or it might be warm. It makes it kinda hard to plan for someone that lives in Georgia and wears shorts and Tshirts all the time - LOL!!! If anyone can give additional hints about the weather and dressing - please chime in. Louise gets far colder than I do. We are one of those couples that constantly has the heater/cooler temperature setting battle in the house. I push down for more air and she pushes up for warmer - LOL!! David does too Judson we are packing as if it is the coldest day of the winter for us... 55 for a high and rain can't imagine it will off by much
zebra
Judson, the ship is going to be temperature controlled and a lot of the scenic viewing can be done from inside. I'm from Florida so I know what you're saying, but I took one jacket for outdoors and one sweater for inside...... now I don't get cold quick - so your wife may need additional long sleeved items. And pretty much most people live in jeans (during the day) - just not for dinner of course.
sailingrose
Only time you'd need heavy wear would be on a Glacier. We were in the same predicament the first time we went since we live in FL. We took jeans, long sleeve t-shirts and sweaters or sweatshirts. I also took my fleece jacket, a leftover from my NY days. We were fine....... Don't forget the ponchos!!!!!!!!

rogue
Packing for Alaska was probably the toughest cruise to pack for, but it was well worth it. Just like everyone says, layers.
zebra
All I can say to both Joey and Judson - DON'T GO WITH A CARIBBEAN MINDSET - but as Howard says..... it is going to be well worth it. Enjoy all the things that you wouldn't usually have onboard. We loved the hot chocolate served on deck..... always spiked with some liquor... yummmmm. While cruising in the glacier area your breath will be taken away by the awesome beauty! And then of course, indoors - everything is exactly the same as any other cruise. So enjoy - I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this cruise...... please remember my words - DO NOT compare this to a Caribbean cruise - it's more like a South American or Antarctic cruise - in one word FABULOUS!
