sailingrose
All I can say to both Joey and Judson - DON'T GO WITH A CARIBBEAN MINDSET - but as Howard says..... it is going to be well worth it. Enjoy all the things that you wouldn't usually have onboard. We loved the hot chocolate served on deck..... always spiked with some liquor... yummmmm. While cruising in the glacier area your breath will be taken away by the awesome beauty! And then of course, indoors - everything is exactly the same as any other cruise. So enjoy - I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this cruise...... please remember my words - DO NOT compare this to a Caribbean cruise - it's more like a South American or Antarctic cruise - in one word FABULOUS! Yummy Jackie!!!!! Hot Cocoa with Baileys!!!!!!! One of my favorites! just wrap David up, give him a couple of beers and he'll have the same mindset i see you read the game plan.. PATJUD
OK!!! Alaska cruise people Do you remember seeing anyone wearing shorts during the time they were on ship??? I know - not off ship or outside on deck - BUT how about times when you're on ship and not going to be outside??? Judson I know - I know - You all think I'm nuts. I'm loving the fact that we're going to Alaska and terribly excited about it but please - How about shorts??? - LOL!!!!!

rogue
I don't remember anyone doing that. One thing to remember is that there is so much scenery to see from the ship, that you will be frequently going outside to look. I constantly found myself just staring at the scenery, or staring at the water looking for whales or seals. There is almost always something to see while you're cruising. zebra
I agree with Howard, you are constantly in and out - I don't believe I saw anyone in shorts, but maybe. I tell you what there was a guy in his swim suit having his photo taken out on the bow in front of the glaciers!!!! I guess he froze his........ off!!! sailingrose
I remember seeing people at the glaciers in the outside hot tub! Joey, make sure you have plenty of room on your memory card! 3 trips to Alaska and 500 or so pictures and I love them all! That was before digital too! rogue
We took about 600 pictures on each of our two Alaska cruises. We always make an album of our cruises, and it's tough choosing which ones to leave out of Alaska albums.
