I would be burned to a crisp after an hour and miserable after that.

so do I CRISP!! EVERY time .... but i still do it...

You are a real glutton for punishment. Two or three cases of sun poisoning taught me my lesson.

I do envy those that can lay there in the sun for hours on end though. We hope to make a very brief stop at a few of the beaches along the way but not for any extended period of time.

the only time i am in the sun is about 5 minutes an hour to a refresh in the water other than that I am under the umbrella

I agree with MaryLou and Rose - the bling is more appealing  Although we love to snorkel, we don't enjoy lying on the beach. I've also had my share of frying like a crisp having lived at the ocean for at least half of my lifetime. Joey be careful, even under the umbrella you burn badly from the reflection of the sun off the sand and sea - not to mention wind burn. Give me air conditioning - that's what I enjoy more than anything - to be cool, cool, cool!!!!

My formula for relaxation and contentment..

Lounge Chair + Umbrella + The Beach + salt water + Cabana Person + food/beverages - Crowds -intrusive noise = Serenity/Joy

If it were just me - that would be my ideal vacation. I keep a tan all year - one way or the other - LOL!!!

for our pre cruise Miami gathering are there any food situations we need to know about from anyone before we start to pick locations/possible restaurants???

I know that for us we have no real dietary restrictions( thank goodness) and can find "something" to enjoy on most menus

Sorry for not answering sooner. I have been in baby shower/house cleaning chaos since last Thursday AM.

Mark and I have no dietary restrictions and would love anyplace everyone decides on! Fish sounds good and we love ribs as well!

After checking out the airport shuttle and port shuttle situation, we have tentatively booked at the Hyatt. Two days before and one day after the cruise. I am in no way sure if this is what we are doing but if we don't end up using Hilton or Sheraton points, this looks like the best location for us. I will have a better handle on our plans when I see the flight availability first part of December.

Well I have eventually made our reservation at the Clarion for 2 nights pre-cruise ..... so now I need to catch up with everyone's plans are for those 2 nights. Which night are we doing the dinner thing?

we hadn't determined yet.... but here's my thinking ....

it would be best to do it the night BEFORE our embarkation this way we can include the members who would be arriving to Miami the night before the cruise.. thus providing for the largest gathering of crazies possible..

who else has thoughts on this matter?

The night before embarkation seems to make the most sense since everyone staying at the Clarion will be checked in by then.

We can always have an unofficial get together on Saturday night for those of us staying 2 nights.

Joey - have you made up your mind if you are staying 2 or 3?
