Paula did you tell me that you took part in a regatta in st Maarten last year? if so please tell us about that..

Yes, I did when I was on the Connie last year. I believe you only can do it through the ship and it is one of the best excursions I ever did! You become the crew on a real America's Cup racing yacht. Everyone is assigned a job-- you get to pick how strenuous you want that job to be. I was a primary grinder (and captain!) of the True North IV and it was so cool to work and learn to sail and race the other yacht. We ended up winning the race, but I was really sore the next day, I have to admit!

I am seriously considering doing it again this year. It's a unique experience. If anyone has any further questions, please ask!

I found this tour in St. Lucia that I thought was pretty good. I've read good things about the tour operator and wonder if anyone else would be interested in joining us on this tour. We have never been there before so would like to see as much as possible.

The tour fee is US$65 per person.

Its 5 to 6 hours. You only pay in cash at the end of the tour. We will be stopping every 10 mins for your photo moments. We will be visiting the banana plantation, fishing villages (Anse La-Raye and Canaries), also Marigot Bay where the movie Dr. Doolittle was filmed, then we will be stopping for breakfast where you can sample the local fish cakes, johnny cakes, coconut cakes, and different local fruits from the Island. We will be having a mobile bar with rum punch, local beer, water, soda. All the eats and drinks will be free. Feel free to have a drink at your convenience because the mobile bar will be with us all the time. Then we head down to Soufriere where you will have an overlook of the pitons, then the waterfall and botanical gardens. Then to the only drive-in Volcano in the world where you will be getting an informative guide to show you around. From the volcano we will be going to the beach which is the Jalousie Beach between the pitons for swimming and snorkeling, where we will be taking the water taxi. Where I will be paying the snorkeling fees. Please bring alone your snorkeling gears. After the beach we will be stopping for a drink and sample the local spice rum. On the way back to the north we will be stopping for the local hot bread and cheese for lunch. Our last stop will be 5 mins drive from the ship where you can do all your shopping for local souveniers to take back home. We will be leaving at 8:30am, You have to be at the gate for 8:20am. As soon as you come off the ship you walk into the building right in front of you, then turn right until you meet the security booth and there I will have a sign written('COSOL'). Bring along your camera. Because of the small changing room at the beach you can wear you swimsuit under you garment to save time. If you have any more queries call me on my cell (758) 7196697 or visit my website at cosol-tours.com. Thanks for emailing me. Looking forward to your confirmation reply.

Anyone else interested. So far we have

Jim & MaryLou

Howard & Cindy

Jackie & Tony

Rose & Howie

Judson & Louise

John & Karen

Steve & Lynda

You are not committed to take this tour until we leave from Miami and I have to give the tour operator a final count.

I have written to him this morning to find the maximum # of people he will take in each van and will let you know when I hear from him. I'll keep you posted Joey in case you want to change your mind. He did say in his original letter to me that he would take as few as 2 people. If you really wanted to do this tour perhaps that would be an option for you and we could meet at certain spots during the day. Just a suggestion.

Just pushing this forward in case others are interested.

Mary Lou, Thanks for the info. I may be interested as well!

wow Paula ... how exciting.. so when you have these races can folks on shore see them or how do people get to watch that aren't participating? or can they ??

Actually, I'm really not sure it is possible to see them from anywhere. They tender you out to the yachts that are moored in the bay in Phillipsburg. It's a bit of a distance, but you might be able to see them from the ship, because I could see the Connie the whole time we were racing. But you would probably need binoculars to see clearly.
