Miami is expensive for hotels. We have sailed twice from Ft Lauderdale and got hotel rooms for under $100. Holiday Inn and a Hampton Inn. When we are going on a cruise the hotle does not have to be fancy, just clean. Guessing Ft Lauderdale is about 30 minute trip to Miami cruise port.

it may pay us to rest in FLL and group off into private vans for the transport to port of MIA

Great balcony photos Joey - thanks for posting them. It does look like those partitions are permanent and can't be moved though (to combine our 2 balconies for your wine party) They certainly are much deeper than I thought. I'm so excited to finally get back to having an AFT cabin.

Staying outside of Miami and having a van for transportation to the ship is definately another option worth exploring.
