PATJUD
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH!!! THEY ARE AT IT AGAIN - MAKING TRIPS MORE AND MORE EXPENSIVE. THIS IS GOING TO HIT OUR SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN TRIP CAUSE WE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PURCHASE AIR YET. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 07/29/08 Delta Air Lines is doubling its fee for checking a second bag to $50 for domestic flights, or $100 for a round-trip domestic flight. The new fee goes into effect for customers who buy tickets July 31st or later, for travel Aug. 5 or later. Atlanta-based Delta is also increasing its fees for additional bags, overweight bags, oversized bags and items that require special handling, like ski equipment. Delta did not announce a fee for checking a first bag, as other airlines have. "At this time we believe that the first checked bag is part of the service provided associated with the price of a ticket," Delta spokesman Kent Landers said. "But we will continue to evaluate everything given the fuel environment." Delta said fewer than 20 percent of its customers check a second bag. Travelers on international Delta flights will still be able to check two bags for free and first class, BusinessElite and Medallion passengers on Delta will still be able to check three bags for free. sailingrose
Judson we have been to Alaska in May & June. It was June that was the warmest both times we went there. Guess all the other airlines will follow Delta.
PATJUD
Yeah I thought you might be talking about June. The things that I read indicate that the early September temps in Alaska, where we'll be, are between 55 - 65 degrees. It's still difficult for a Caribbean cruiser to think in terms of crusing into those temps. Howerer - by the time we go, I will have adjusted my attitude to having a wondeful coooooooooooool cruise - LOL!!!!

PATJUD
This suitcase thing is a real bummer - Jeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!!! I remember the first cruise that we took five years ago. We drove to Tampa, Florida to cruise on Carnival's "Inspiration." We had 3 suitcases each - not all large ones but a large one, a medium size one, and a smaller one - yep 6 pieces of luggage. We flew this past February to LA to cruise on "The Pride" and by now we've learned and are down to 3 suitcases for the two of us. I just don't see how we can cut one more suitcase. Of course - I can pay the $100 for the third one but it's the principle of the thing - it just seems to be a crooked way to get additional money. They say it's to cover increased fuel but they are also raising the ticket costs as well. I guess we can begin to think about having clothes from the first couple days sent to the ships laundry and then wearing them the last couple days - LOL!! I guess we can think about washing a few things - I know that will most likely be necessary on a cruise of longer than 7 days.
