Joe and Joan... maybe we can get something other than the Caribbean for our next group.... where would you suggest.. back to Alaska? to Europe? (hopefully the exchange rate will be better!)

Europe (Eastern Med.?) if the exchange rate gets better. Canada/New England. Bermuda. Mississippi, Columbia, or Rhone Rivers. Maybe Hawaii, although now there's only a choice of one NCL ship or 15 day cruises that are mostly sea days. Actually, one of the main reasons we don't expect to cruise for awhile is that, until I retire and can cruise in the summer or winter*, we're running out of places that one can cruise to in the spring or fall. A third cruise to Alaska? Not likely for at least 5, maybe 10, years.

* As I've noted in previous posts, I've never had any kind of vacation, cruise or otherwise, not even as a child, during the actual winter (12/21 to 3/21). CPA son of a CPA, and neither a skier nor a sun worshiper.

from what you just posted.....lets hope for a improvement in the exchange rate!... we would love to share some private tours!!

J & J..... try the Caribbean in winter - November to January is awesome. (I also can't cruise during Tax Season) I too have very fair skin and have had skin cancer, so I cannot hangout on beaches either.

But the Southern Caribbean islands are a lot more than just beaches,

Our three Caribbean cruises were in early November, late November into December, and early December. We've been to Puerto Limon (Costa Rica), Panama (Colon and the Canal), Roatan (Honduras), Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Barbados (twice), St. Maartin, Mayreau, St. Thomas, San Juan, Tobago, Dominica (twice), Tortola, Grenada, St. Lucia, and Bequia. That's a pretty fair sample of Caribbean places. We thought the islands were beautiful and very different from each other, but I was uncomfortably hot all the time. Yes, we took a lot of tours, but one still needs to get out of the car to see the attractions. Just not the place for us.

I understand...... maybe we can do a Canadian/New England or a European cruise sometime - lets hope the exchange rate will get better, because like you guys we love Europe, the only area we haven't done is the Baltics.

I kind of feel the same way as J&J about the Caribbean. Been to most of the islands multiple times and only reason so is because of my daughter. She loves hot weather! I'm the opposite and definitely not a beach person too! LOL

I would love to do a Constellation New England cruise!

My husband and I are going back on the Ecstasy in Jan 09 for our 26th wedding anniversary and taking our two girls. I can't wait!

I had a wonderful time last time this past Jan. for our 25th ann. It was our first cruise and we are hooked now. Cruising is my vacation of choice. In the words of Jimmy Buffett, "Sail On"'

This was the year of two cruises - the Mexican Riviera in February and Alaska this September.

For 2009 - there will be only the Crazies cruise to the Southern Caribbean in November. November is later than I like to cruise. I like to cruise in September or October but the Crazies Southern Caribbean was just too good to pass up.
