I'll post a question ...

Despite all the elaborate food and drinks, is there something that you miss not eating and/or drinking while on a cruise?

Here's another question,

Have you ever missed a port while you were on a cruise? What, if anything, did the cruiseline do to compensate for the missed port?

We have missed the private islands a few times due to rough seas. On our New Years cruise last year we missed Montego Bay for rough seas too. They gave us an open bar and refunded the port charges.

On our honeymoon we skipped Grenada (there was a war) and ended up in St. Vincent. It was perfect, untouched and absolutely the highlight of our trip.

We have never missed any ports yet. Better not now with the price of airfares and gas and all.

I miss the salty snacks also - potato chips, popcorn, peanuts, etc. We always said that they should have these available at the bars. I think it would make people buy more drinks  !

A good 'ole bowl of chili with a peanut butter sandwich, a moon pie, and a Ski!

Yes, have to agree. We miss the salty snacks the most.

Marcy and James and Jerry laugh at me. I pack snacks like we're going to the movies: raisinettes, cashews, spanish peanuts, almonds, licorice, Dots, and hard candies. Our night stand in the room proudly displays our snacks. They all indulge!!

We were on one ship where there was a movie theater (that's another story of me insisting we had to see the movie and I was the first one to fall asleep). We all walked in with my stash. We passed the candies around to everyone in the theater.

At the end of the cruise, we give our uneaten snacks to the room steward.

Marcy, we've missed TWO ports: On the Caribbean Princess, (the one where "all the kids joined us") we were supposed to stop at their private island. We stopped in Nassau (Hotel Atlantis) instead.

In Hawaii, NCL, how can you forget??? We missed Kauai because we had to return to Fanning Island.

Definitely a sign of too many cruises when you no longer remember the "deviations"!!!

Good question. After thinking about it can't think of a thing I miss eating. We look forward to eating things we normally don't eat that I don't miss other foods.

One of the ways I rate a cruise ship and a cruise line is that they must have peanut butter at the breakfast buffet. Gotta have it on my toast. NEVER get it at home!! "Too many calories" says DW.

I tell you Azamara had some stuff I'd never seen before. Cooked while you wait Shish Kabobs and French Onion Soup in a bread bowl both at the poolside grill.

I thought they were talking about missing the boat in any ports. Oh well :huh2:
