cruisetarp
Unfortunately (as far as Jim is concerned) I have to have my house cleaned from top to bottom, including closets, drawers and laundry room. I just can't relax if I know I am coming home to a messy house. Also I always notify my credit card company and make sure a neighbor knows we will be away and has an emergency number to reach my daughter. sailingrose
I also clean the house. Having to clean on top of the laundry would negate the whole vacation for me.
deb1220
I always make sure I get my hair done (cut, color and highlights) a couple days before we go. Don't want those gray roots peeking out !!!
TheSkipper
Roe is a nut about the house cleaning thing. My job is to charge and test all the electronic, video and photographic equipment and make sure everything is operating and all needed media and cords etc. are good to go. The night before departure we take Puff, the Shih Tzu, to his home away from home down the street where he spends his time with his best friends two female Goldens. cruisetarp
It looks like there is going to be a whole lot of housecleaning going on in November '09. At least our homes will be all clean and ready for Thanksgiving when we get back. Deb - I also have to do the hair and nails before I go but if my house isn't clean, that won't help my spirits. hazelson
Let's see - shave a few things, have hair streaked, get lots of treats for the dogs, hide the "blue" movies - that's about it!

PATJUD
Todays Question........Is there anything special you have to do before you go on a Cruise??? Yep - there surely is. I have a good good friend that looks after the house while we're gone on extended vacations. She checks the house every day and is so good with it that I never have to give the house a moment's thought while we're away. She can take care of anything that comes up and has contacts to do it and won't waste time wondering if she should do it or not. Whatever needes to be done - it will be taken care of. Now - down to what I have to do - I always give her a good bottle of something - wine or liquor - when we get back and of course, she assumes that we bought it on the trip. I don't haul bottles of things back from a cruise so before leaving, I go to the liquor store and pick up an expensive bottle of something that's exotic enough to have been bought out of the country - LOL. She's happy and I'm happy. I know it's a bit dishonest but it works. Her favorite was the LARGE bottle of Grey Goose Vodka that I gave her after returning from a previous trip. TheSkipper
And, with a large bottle of Grey Goose it will not be long before she will be unable to remember you were even out of town!! Nothing like a happy house sitter!!
