JoeyandDavid
Todays Question : Todays question was supplied by one of our members who PM's me.. Will the increase in fuel charges, both in the airline and cruise industries, cause you to rethink how, when, and what you may book as your future vacations?? Suzila
Right now, I think it's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't think the full effect of the rising costs have been realized yet. We usually have a variety of trips planned during the year, all different modes of transportation, and as those trips gets closer we may have to alter plans, we'll see. Our next planned trip is for a long weekend to San Antonio. We already have everything paid for, so that trip will not be affected. After that we have a short driving trip up to Solvang, CA, but we will have to use our truck and car trailer...the gas for that will be a large amount...we'll go, but will have to save up before the trip. We have been thinking about going on another Superbowl cruise next February, but haven't planned it yet. That may go by the wayside because we already have a week planned in February/March to Vegas. Then, sometime during the year (not sure when yet) there is a New Hampshire convention we'd like to go to. That trip may not happen, because we've seen a repositioning cruise from Vancouver down to Los Angeles we are interested in. We can combine that with a few days stay in Vancouver at our timeshare. I'd rather do the cruise than the convention, if it comes to that. So, for us, I think it may just be a matter of which trips are more important to us. TheSkipper
Probably to a limited degree. It will make it tougher to book a cruise off the East Coast because of high airfares. Not impossible, just tougher. Will probably look a lot harder for bargains. I have two more frequent flyer tickets to Europe, so that is probably on the radar again for somewhere down the road. But, in most cases we will simply "bite the bullet", life is to be lived, this is not a rehearsal! Hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day. Do me a favor and at 3:00 PM in your time zone take a moment and remember all the brave men who died to give us the right to live in freedom. Thanks.
