zebra
I see RCI is introducing My Time Dining fleet wide. This is one of the reasons we are such avid Princess cruisers because we love their Anytime dining. So what do my fellow Crazies think about RCI introducing this dining variation? I will have to read more about it and see how it may effect traditional dining .... I would venture to guess what happens at RCI eventually will trickle up or down depending on your opinion to Celebrity Cruises...so until I can see how it effects those options ..no comment.. but it is interesting... As Ed pointed out Azamara is already anytime..
cruisetarp
I just received an e-mail that they will be trying anytime dining on our Panama Canal cruise on the Jewel in December. They say it is on a test basis. From what I understand, one part of the dining room will be reserved for traditional dining (same table, same wait staff, etc.) while the rest of the room will be "anytime". You can make reservations in advance or just show up. Also to take part in anytime you must pre-pay all gratuities and will not be assigned a regular dining room table number. In other words, you can choose one or the other but can't do both. Not quite sure what we will do yet as we have early seating booked as usual but have several late running excursions planned. zebra
So that's different to Princess - where you can do Traditional and Anytime on the nights that Traditional doesn't fit into your schedule - that's what we've done in the past. DebbieandJerry
I'm torn. I can understand why some people prefer the anytime dining. And, there are times when it's hard to budget your day around a set dinner time. (That's when we use the buffet and/or room service.) We like the pampering that a consistent wait staff gives. We like having the beverages waiting for us because he/she knows our preferences. But if this is a trend that all of the ships are going to, I guess it will be a part of the "remember when" discussions ...
MarcyandJames
I don't mind having a set dinner time, if your traveling with friends and family, or you have a big group of people your traveling with, you can all gather together and share your days events if you have not done everything together that day. Thats kind of nice
deb1220
I too enjoy the Anytime Dining on Princess. I like having the choice of when and where to dine and meeting different people every night.

This is one of the reasons we are such avid Princess cruisers because we love their Anytime dining. So what do my fellow Crazies think about RCI introducing this dining variation? I think it's the sign of the times. Cruisers want flexibilty and more choices. Personally, I prefer a set time with the same tablemates. sailingrose
I disliked the Anytime Dining on Princess so I'll not be trying this one on RCI. One perk of the Crown and Anchor is being Diamond Plus I get first choice for dining, hopefully that will continue so I won't have an issue. I still like Princess but won't go with them if I can't have set dining times.
hazelson
I think they need "naked dining" so we don't have to pay for that extra baggage!
