I prefer traditional dining BUT really like it when you have both. Sometimes, esp. for shore tour reasons you can't make your seating. Once in Victoria we finished our tour late but went right to an anytime dining venue (Sapphire Princess) for bdiiner. Nice.

We were on NCL in August, RCI in February, and NCL again a few weeks ago. We definitely prefer the Freestyle, anytime, anywhere dining to traditional dining...same time, same place, same table, same seat mates every night. I enjoy meeting new people, but if I'm on a longer cruise and don't especially care for those people, I'm sunk on a traditional cruise.

We also like having the variety the different restaurants have to offer. I'm currently looking for another NCL cruise because we like it so much.

I guess anytime dining has it advantages but we like the traditonal dining. We always eat late which gives us plenty of time to make dinner even on shore days. The only meal I can remember missing was the night we took a sunset catamaran cruise. It was open bar and by the time we got back pizza was fine!

As I noticed when Princess went to Personal Choice, the availability of traditional seating is cut at least in half, and especially for early dining, it fills up fast and results in a waitlist. That will happen on RCCL ships that devote half the seats to As You Wish dining. Unless you book well in advance, if you want traditional dining, you may well wind up on a wait list.
