hazelson
Has the airline or cruise ship ever lost your luggage?

rogue
Our luggage came on a different flight to Vancouver on our first Alaska cruise. The shuttle to the ship couldn't wait to see if it came in on the next plane, but we were assured they would get the luggage and get it to the ship before we sailed. It was a bit disconcerting until we actually saw the luggage in our room.

JohnG
US Scareways commuter planes come into one area of Charlotte and they are not very speedy in moving baggage to the regular terminal. We sailed from FLL without luggage, only carryon's until it showed up in St Thomas on the 3rd day of the cruise. My wife was not happy not having her own formal wear. They lent me a tux, and her trousers and shoes and I bought her a beaded top she loves. This was Princess.
TheSkipper
Hey John, We did the US Airways thing in Charlotte on our way to the Azamara Quest. I got all my docs and saw that we were staying at the Miami Airport Wyndam. So upon arrival in Charlotte I figured out which flight was heading to Miami. We were almost to the other gate, three miles away, when something about the flight number made me get out our tickets and I discovered we were flying into Ft. Lauderdale!! And, of course, the FLL gate was right back where we started from!! That will teach me to "assume" anything!!
cruisehelper
Southwest once made me check an umbrella stroller at the gate, after the desk personnel assured me that the flight attendants would store it on the plan. Stroller did not make the flight, they did however get it back to me about three days later. As for cruise lines, the only luggage mishap that we have had (knock on wood) is we left a bag in New Orleans at the dock. Called Carnival the next business day after we got home to let them know that we had left the bag. They found the bag and sent UPS to our home. We had to pay the shipping but at least I got the bag of dirty laundry.
jacketwatch
Twice we've had airline mishaps. Once upon arrival in new Delhi about 2 or three bags were missing but came the next day. The other time we were missing a bag coming to ORD from DEL and it hadd the gifts for my wife. Fortunately it was found and delivered to our home w/i a wekk IIRC but the idea of losing all her stuff was sad. Fortunately it was found. DebbieandJerry
Lost, no. Misplaced, well?? Mid 1990's: We were in Houston waiting to make the connecting flight to Fl. (Continental) when there was a torential downpour. Jerry and I were looking at the tarmac and sitting there, in the pouring rain is all this luggage. He and I both said, "sure hope that's not our's". So, the flight leaves late, we get to the ship within minutes of sailing and none of the luggage comes to the room. So, we go to dinner in the traveling clothes that we have slept in since leaving Tucson probably 10-12 hours before arriving in Fl. (Mind you, this was all cruise, air arranged by the T.A.) TWO DAYS later the luggage comes to our stateroom. They are both soaking wet, through and through. I am in a bathrobe with two suitcases schlepping them down to the purser's desk. I asked them what I was supposed to do with two bags of luggage that were soaking wet. Carnival didn't want to do anything, claiming that it was the airline's fault and not the ship's fault. I stood there and asked if someone could please help me. Finally, the head purser came out and said that Carnival would clean the clothes but couldn't guaranty that they would be in our stateroom within a specified timeframe. I calmly said that the dining room wouldn't like me coming to dinner in a bathrobe and I wasn't fond of eating in the stateroom for an unspecified amount of time. I offered to go through the luggage and select a few items for them to do right away. We had clean clothes delivered that night. This was back in the day when you checked in EVERYTHING except for medication.
