Suzila
When we were on a cruise a few weeks ago, sitting on the balcony, I leaned over the railing and looked down. My glasses felt a little loose on my face and I remember thinking it would be awful to fall in from a 10th floor balcony room. I also remember thinking there is no way anyone could just 'fall' over the railing...they would either have to climb up or be thrown over by someone. The women on the view were talking about this on the tv this morning and saying how this would be a great way to get rid of an abusive spouse. Take them on a cruise and throw them overboard! There is nothing to hold on to on the outside of the ship, balcony to balcony. She really must have gotten drunk pretty quickly because the ship just left at 4:00pm and this first happened about 8:00pm. Sheesh, what was she thinking? DebbieandJerry
Sue, when we were on the Carnival Mercury in November, it was too windy to walk on the top deck (closed off), so we went to the "main" deck and walked. We were very surprised to see numerous places where the railing stopped and started. We even commented that a very drunk person could lose their perspective in the evening and easily fall off. hazelson
Tragic. I often go out on the balcony in the middle of the night - when I wake up for my trip to the head (nautical eh?) I have thought that if I went over Dh wouldn't even know it until the morning when I wasn't nagging him to get his sorrry butt out of bed. A cruise ship is one of those places where you should always have your wits about you!
