jacketwatch
On the Set Sail pass there are two options for CC conversion rates if you use one to pay for onboard expenses. On involves using RCI's conversion program and th other will have the conversion done by the CC issuer. As we are not converting currencies I would think it wold not matter but any ideas? Thank you. If you were using a CC issued by a bank not in the US, it could make a difference. But, not knowing the conversion rate RCI uses and what rate the bank uses, makes it difficult to compare. I suspect, for a US passenger, the RCI rate would be better than getting involved with the dollar/Euro conversion from a overseas bank. My overseas customers are charged a percentage conversion charge by their bank who issued their credit card.
Dan
On Princess, we usually have them bill our CC in US dollars as Princess charges a higher fee to convert, plus they also had a bad CDN dollar exchange rate on top of that. Our CC company charged less to convert than the 3% that the cruise line adds. I imagine RCI is similar to this. I beleive this is also something you have to advise them to do. They automatically bill in the currency of the card for passengers coming from certain countries that tend to send a lot of passengers and you have to tell them to bill it in US. jacketwatch
Thank you. Actually I called them and this is for CC's issued by non US banks. If you are paying in USD they said don't do anything with this part. Larry
