Cruise Tips

I thought it would be fun to see how many new cruise tips we could find here. I'm sure we have all picked up a tip or two in our travels. Here's one I just discovered:

On our Bermuda cruise I bought a small glass angel for Ashleigh. While at dinner one night I remarked that I hoped to get it home in one piece. The next night our table mates brought me one of those inflatable arm bands the kids use for swimming. I put the angel inside and inflated the band slightly and it got home just fine. Our tablemate says they use them to protect liquor bottles. They fold perfectly flat if you don't need them. Bought a whole bunch of them in the Dollar Store yesterday for future cruises.:thumbup:

That's is amazing, it works better that bubble wrap? and they would really take up less space!

Plus if I took bubble wrap all the bubbles would be popped by my girls by the time we got to the ship!!!

Probably a few by me to

Sail on :cool2:

We always ask for an "egg crate" to go on top of the mattress as soon as we see our cabin steward. The only time that we couldn't get our request fulfilled was this last cruise aboard the Carnival Legend. It makes the bed sooo cushy!!

Our other tip - this also didn't work on Carnival, but it applied to all the other cruise lines. You know that breakfast menu they leave in your cabin for you to order from and hang out on your door handle? Well we ADD all kinds of goodies like 2 fried eggs over medium, bacon, sausage, toast, V8 juice - or sometimes I order Eggs Benedict and Tony orders a Ham and Cheese Omelet, with our coffee, of course. This comes in real handy when you need to go on an early excursion.... no rush to go UP to have breakfast. How much better than having breakfast on your balcony overlooking that awesome ocean?

We bring little souvenirs of Tucson and/or the SW with us to give as "gifts" to our room steward, waiters, people we meet from other countries, etc. Sometimes it might just be postcards. Sometimes t-shirts. Sometimes paperweights. This is always in addition to the tips that we give and we do make that distinction when we present our gifts.

It's amazing how stunned and pleased people are to receive these "housewarming" presents.

Take a little pad of sticky notes - and leave messages for the cabin steward.... like "You're the Best" or "Thanks for making our cruise so special". I stick them on the vanity mirror.

I print up "business" cards to hand out to tablemates and others we meet along the way.

Saves hunting down paper and pen to exchange numbers and they are easy to slip into a wallet or purse.

Ours have our names, the name of the ship and sailing dates and our e-mail addresses.

I also made luggage tags with - "Hey - this isn't your bag!!!!" on them. Cuts down on the confusion when so many bags look alike. :o)
