cruisetarp
Getting some great ideas here and these are things that don't take up a lot of luggage room or add a lot of weight if you are flying to the port. I have used bubble wrap in the past but find that sometimes by overpacking or from the luggage getting tossed around before I receive it, the bubbles are already popped. One more: make sure your name and return address is on your cameras. Makes it much easier if by chance you lose it and it is turned in to Guest relations. I was amazed at how many cameras they had there when I went.
PATJUD
We always ask for an "egg crate" to go on top of the mattress as soon as we see our cabin steward. The only time that we couldn't get our request fulfilled was this last cruise aboard the Carnival Legend. It makes the bed sooo cushy!! Our other tip - this also didn't work on Carnival, but it applied to all the other cruise lines. You know that breakfast menu they leave in your cabin for you to order from and hang out on your door handle? Well we ADD all kinds of goodies like 2 fried eggs over medium, bacon, sausage, toast, V8 juice - or sometimes I order Eggs Benedict and Tony orders a Ham and Cheese Omelet, with our coffee, of course. This comes in real handy when you need to go on an early excursion.... no rush to go UP to have breakfast. How much better than having breakfast on your balcony overlooking that awesome ocean? OK - I don't understand about the "egg crate." Please explain. I had no idea that you could add items to the breakfast menu for room service. I always go to CVS and get those pretied curly ribbons for presents and tie them on to my basic black suitcases. I get enough of the same colors for each bag. They have some unusual combinations of colors that I've never seen anyone else with the same colors. I've never had them come off at the airports or on board ship with loading and unloading. The porters and I spot my luggage instantly. Works like a charm.

PATJUD
OMG!!!! I thought you were talking about the plastic things that you get at the grocery store with a dozen eggs in them. I didn't know those things from the picture were called "egg crates" LOL!!
55ChevyLady
I print up "business" cards to hand out to tablemates and others we meet along the way. Saves hunting down paper and pen to exchange numbers and they are easy to slip into a wallet or purse. Ours have our names, the name of the ship and sailing dates and our e-mail addresses. I also made luggage tags with - "Hey - this isn't your bag!!!!" on them. Cuts down on the confusion when so many bags look alike. :o) That is a great idea! I use the business card bit but it is for my parents Dr.s , Hospitals, such... They have my parents name specifying I am their caretakers etc. plus my name, add. phone, and Daddy's medical problems, meds, all that stuff. it can literally be a life saver in an emergency Now I can get some from my next cruise that is a great idea... Luggage tags, I love it, I will definitely do that and get ribbons too! Last time I thought everybody had the same set of luggage we did. Thanks, Andrea
DebbieandJerry
These are some great tips. I forgot, we use the colored ribbons on the luggage, too. Must have seen one of your guys' luggage and "stole" the idea. Thanks
DebbieandJerry
We also make sure that photocopies of our passports are tucked in our luggage.
MarcyandJames
Great idea about the business cards. I can't tell you how many times we have hunted for a pen and paper to write on. We also buy small plastic containers to put things like shampoo and conditioner in so we don't have the extra weight to lug around. I then put them in zip lock bags and pack them in the luggage, that way if they leak, they are in the ziplock bags and it dosen't mess up your clothes. I have never had them leak. Makes for lighter carryons.
55ChevyLady
We also make sure that photocopies of our passports are tucked in our luggage. I literally went "overboard" with copies of the passports, I had them in every suitcase, my purse, carry- ons, Hubbys wallet, in the glove box of the truck. I'm lucky I remember the actual passports!!! Andrea I'm sure everyone knows this tip but every trip I have ever made i pack everything that might leak(shampoo etc.) in a gallon size freezer Ziplock bag. I also put my make-up in them before I put the make-up in my bag (foundation has been known to leak).... I also take extra Ziplock bags, the big ones and little ones for whatever you might get along the way. If you are on a car trip , as we always are, we never travel without wipies (Baby Wipes) and a role of paper towels and a plastic bag for the trash we accumulate.
