Purely for sentimental reasons I would say our very first port of embarkation which was Barcelona. I still remember leaving, being on deck and waving to whoever was on shore. Neat tradition.

But what are they? I can't picture what games could be played in or around a swimming pool.

Belly flop contests... water volley ball.. .. water bean bag toss just "fun" water activities

When shopping ashore, do you tend to go stores which are "Cruise Ship Approved."

we tend to browse any of stores that catch our interest being a cruise line "approved" location really never enter our minds... as matter of fact we rarely use the map they give you as you stop in each port..

As a rule, we generally go where we please to shop. However, if we are making a big purchase (jewelry or electronics) we try and stick to the approved stores. We've never had a problem but would hope the line would help if we did have one.

We HAVE mad the big purchase, several times. Usually in St. Thomas or St. Martin, never been burned and always found our stateside appraisals pretty matched the one given us in the islands.

All that said, none of the purchases were made in "Ship Recommended" stores, which in MHO tend to be overpriced to make up for the payment they make to the cruise line for their "recommendation."

We do pretty much do the same as Mary Lou. We have made a couple of big purchases down in the Caribbean (jewelery for Cindy).

Not usually. I have made a few purchases in their stores but only because they had what I wanted.

We've never made a BIG purchase off the ship, but Ray has purchased a few pieces of diamond jewelry ON the ship for me. The pieces have appraised for more when we got home than what we paid for it onboard.

We've only gone to cruise line approved stores once, and that was on our first cruise...we made a stop on Catalina Island. When seeing what was 'approved' by the cruise line, we decided never to follow their shopping maps again.
