my experience on Carnival Ecstasy in the dining room as far as how people dressed was that everyone dressed "resort elegant" to "resort casual" ...I think you call every night...no, they didn't wear tuxes every night, but everyone looked very nice and VERY elegant on formal night...that was when EVERYONE shined! but nobody came in looking like a slouch. The slouches ate on the Lido deck...LOL

and my service was excellent! I would have loved to have brought my head waiter home with me. He was an absolute jewel

I had a favorite bartender, she was Russian, she suggested a new drink to me I loved and I drank it the rest of the cruise...I thought she was fabulous.

I haven't noticed anyone dressing particularly poorly for dinner on a cruise. The last cruise I brought my gown was for our 7 day RCL Alaska cruise in 2006. We brought resort casual on our Hawaii cruise last year...no suit necessary in Hawaii for hubby. He did bring his suit on our three day on RCL in February, but not on our 8 day NCL to Mexico in April.

We appreciated not having to lug a suit bag with us. And it looks like people will be packing for cruises differently now that the airlines are charging for extra bags.

Each cruise has been different for us. I haven't noticed many changes where I 'miss' something on a cruise. Maybe we've been lucky...the service onboard has been great for us.

Huatulco, Mexico was our least favorite. There was nothing there and it seemed as if they had taken us there to try to sell us real estate.

Sue we LOVED Huatulco but then again we are Beach people.... at this point not much there i agree..

Our least favorite has to be a tie....Nassau and St. Thomas

The only port on our first cruise in 1973, Grand Bahama. It was so bad that we didn't attempt another cruise for 25 years, until 1998.

We attempted to take a cab to the casino, as arranged by the ship. The cab got into an accident, and Joan hurt her foot. The local hospital refused to treat her, and all the ship gave her was an aspirin. She limped around for several days.

Come to think of it, we never made it to the casino, and I still have never placed a casino bet, 35 years later. So, in one blow, Grand Bahama soured us on the Bahamas, cruising (but we've gotten over that!), and casinos.

Ochos Rios, Jamaica. Been there twice. Have no desire to return. Jerry almost got "set up" to buy drugs. He was outside the store smoking a cigarette and a local man asked him if he wanted a smoke. Jerry really wasn't listening/paying attention. He kept saying that he had smokes. (Polite person that he is.) After about the third try, it dawned on him what was going down.

I guess what I didn't like was no matter what you were looking at, the folks selling would get in your face to show their wares. Now, I am use to border Mexico where they are always trying to get you to see their stuff. This was five times worse. Really made me not want to look at anything.

I've heard other parts of Jamaica are beautiful.
