DebbieandJerry
I think we sat through ALL of the ship lectures on the first two cruises. Then we realized that they were just hypes to buy truly amazing stuff that you really don't need. Most of what they tell you is repeated in the "caper paper" as is the maps and cruise ship places to shop. Jerry and I are not shoppers. I like the homemade crafts, etc that are displayed "swap meet" or outdoor market fashion. We also used to go to the debarkation talks. Again, not anymore. Again, most of what they tell you is repeated in the "caper paper" and/or t.v. Too many other things to do (and eat/drink/gamble) while these talks are taking place. DebbieandJerry
Forgot to add on favorite things to do while on the ship: We like to play the slot tournaments and blackjack tournaments. Haven't had the nerve to play the Texas Hold'em tournaments, but might have to add that one to our things to do in March.
MarcyandJames
We went to some of the lectures in our early days. Not anymore. Now we research online our different options four excurtions and when we find what we want we book and pay in advance. As for shopping we are doing less and less of that. Its just a waste of money that I'd rather save and put toward my next cruise. We usually buy things that come from the area to give as gifts, like pineapple from Hawaii or spices and home made crafts. hazelson
Nope - we figure (from catching them on the on board tv channel) that they are just pushing certain places for their own gain. Don't buy much any more either - usually a coffee mug, shot glass and charm for my bracelet.
Rat
Cruise Question of the Day - Tuesday, June 17, 2008: Do you usually attend the Port Shopping Lectures? I don't attend sales talks, but DW does sometimes.

I consider it as one long sales pitch.. nothing more nothing less
Suzila
Activities we do on the ship, other than eat: 1. we play in ping pong tournaments (hubby has a bunch of first place ribbons and from Carnival 'Ship on a Stick' for winning) 2. we sometimes attend the trivia games 3. I love to go to karaoke at night 4. we go to the shows at night. 5. we both like to walk around on the promenade deck a number of times for exercise. 6. we watch the pool games, but neither of us can spend a lot of time in the sun, so we don't sit at the pool, unless it's under the overhang in the shade. 7. I like to find a quiet spot on the ship and read a good book if we don't have a balcony.
Joanandjoe
Non-food activities. 1) Trivia. On our last cruise, we were in the trivia contest five times, and were on the winning team three times. 2) Reading. We spend a lot of time reading and relaxing. 3) Attending shows. 4) Meeting fellow CC members from our roll call. 5) Swimming and using the hot tub, when it's warm enough. On our last Alaska cruise, it was too cold to get into a bathing suit. 6) Strolling on the wrap around deck. BTW, a lot of people refer to "pool games". What are they? On our twelve cruises, we've never seen a game in or around the pool. Maybe it's a Carnival or Royal Caribbean thing.

Joanandjoe
Maybe it's a Carnival or Royal Caribbean thing. yep! But what are they? I can't picture what games could be played in or around a swimming pool.
