Suzila
nope from me too..too expensive. That's the problem: price. We occasionally get massages at home, and they cost much less than on a ship. yes but have you tried to price a land based sunset at sea? You know we don't live too far from the ocean, Joey, so we've had that 'land-based sunset at sea' many times. (it's 'FREE' by the way). We don't do the spa thing on a ship, nor have I ever done the 'spa' thing on land...except for having a pedicure and manicure at a spa, never a massage. JoeyandDavid
Cruise Question of the day - Sunday, June 22, 2008: Do you take and wear "Formal Wear" on your cruises?? Great Question!! if it is a 7 nighter or longer yes... if it is a short get away a suit works best
Suzila
7 day cruise, AND depending what ship it is, AND where we are going...I'll take a gown, Ray takes his suit. On the 7 day NCL to Hawaii, we did not take formal clothes, and didn't need them at all. On a shorter 4 or 5 day cruise, Ray will take his suit, I'll take a nice outfit, but not a gown. Too dressy for that sort of cruise.
boba
Our 1st cruise I did, but the other 3 i just took suits. With all the restrictions on luggage I think I might rent a tux on the ship for our 10 day in October.
rogue
I wear a tux except if we're sailing with any of our kids. They won't get dressed, so we'll dine up at the buffet that day.
TheSkipper
I bought a Tux for our first cruise. After a few years the salt air caused it to shrink and I think I've bought three more since then. I guess I'm one of the old relics who wears a tux, including patent leather shoes on a cruise. Usually take the dinner jacket for the second formal night. My logic is it takes no more room to pack a tux as it does to pack a suit. Roe pretty much always wears a long formal gown, which sometimes means an extra suitcase because some are very full and have a long train. Dressing up has always been a part of cruising for us. All that being said our most recent cruise on Azamara was Country Club Casual and we did not take formal wear. And, we kind of missed it. Suzila
"After a few years the salt air caused it to shrink" Hmmm, that statement sounds a little 'fishy' to me Skipper. LOL!
Joanandjoe
As I've mentioned in prior posts, I haven't worn a tux in more than 30 years, and have no intention of wearing one on a cruise. Also, in my last 8 cruises, only two had formal nights, so buying a tux would have been a waste.
