Hi Larry! My DH and I did the full transit on the "Infinity" of Celebrity cruise lines in January of 2003. I think the full transit is the way to go if you have the time. We sailed from Ft. Lauderdale, and the return was to be San Diego, but our ship had some pod problems on that particular cruise, so we had to fly to San Diego (which turned out to be to LA, and then bussed to SD) from Acapulco. I would definitely do a Panama Canal cruise again...(after some of the others I would like to do).

Thank you Shari. I was reluctant at first to do the full transit but I'm glad I was talked out of that. BTW we plan to spend a few days in Acapulco precruise and I was looking at hotels online today. How surprising to see the prices so reasonable,at least comapred to hotel prices in Puerto Rico. For example the Hyatt Regency there, really nice property and right on the beach is about half of what we paid in PR for the Intercontinental and the Sheraton. And this is in higher season too vs. summer in PR.

That's great that the prices are so good right now. We did stay overnight in Acapulco, but our cost was paid by Celebrity when we stayed there. We stayed at the Pierre Marques which was next to the Acapulco Princess. The Pierre Marques had the best margaritas. I'd sure like to have their recipe. Hope you have a wonderful cruise, and stay, in Acapulco. Be sure to see the cliff divers, and make sure your hotel has purified water.
