Do you like cruise TV ads.

As soon as I hear the drums for rci's Lust for Life I.m in front of the tv. My kids all think I'm crazie, they're right. I a cruisecrazie.

I tend to ignore travel ads, including those for cruise lines. For the lines on which I've sailed, the ads seem to bear no resemblance to the actual experience.

We've had some posts about least favorite places that Crazies have encountered on their cruises. Give me two days to soak in the atmosphere, a good photographer, and some attractive male and female models, and I could write an ad making you drool with desire to go to that place. Anyone for a trip to scencic Camden, NJ? A good ad writer could make you want to go there. (Visit the battleship New Jersey. Explore the Aquarium, and Walt Whitman's birth place. Take a ferry to Philadephia, birthplace of the nation. Etc., etc.)

What cruise line ads do is reinforce the image that the cruise line wants to convey, and that's great for first time cruisers. I don't think that experienced cruisers will take a cruise line because of TV ads; but the cruise lines are betting that I'm wrong.

Any type of tv commercial signifies it's time to walk out of the room, or at least hit the mute button. I usually don't watch commercials at all.

Actually it may have been more accurate to ask how true to the image portrayed is the delivered product. I sort of think Carnival and RCI are true to the image, perhaps more so than the others.

Hey, I just like seeing people having fun on a ship in the middle of the ocean. Sounds pretty accurate to me.
