coloradocruisers
Currently we are staying at the Jumeirah Beach hotel, next to the famous sister 7 star hotel, Burq Al Arab. When we checked in, they did not have any reservations for us. It was booked over half a year ago. Made a few phone calls to my TA in California.........issue still has not been resolved. As frustrating as it sounds, please don't let that ruin your trip. Everything else sounds awesome. Who knows when you'll pass that way again. I'd like to visit Dubai someday. zebra
Ray I hope your hotel issue has been resolved..... We had a similar issue happen in Paris, which has unfortunately clouded our feelings about Paris. Boy there sure are all kinds of adjustments and trials when we travel to foreign countries aren't there?

Rat
Hi gang, after five talks in 2 days with various hotel managers here, they found some space for my whole stay. Late last night they extended it only 5 nights, but I needed a few more per my original booking. So this morning crabby old me raised some hell and got the remainding days. Even though this is suppose to be one of the better hotels in Dubai, I don't think I'll ever stay here again. There has been much more problems here than I've posted. It has been a very stressful 3 days here.........not sure we made the right choice by staying here for the remainder of the week. Regardless, I will finally be able to unpack my luggage after 3 days here. Back to what we did today, it was an all day visit to the Mall of the Emirates. Words cannot describe this place......simply huge and extravagant with mostly high end stores. We also watched the skiers at Ski Dubai, an indoor ski facility.........amazing! It has been really hazy, hot and humid. Having a hard time taking pictues outdoors.....as soon as the camera lens is opened, it gets fogged up right away! Constantly have to wipe the lens. Still not able too see the new world's tallest building (Burq Dubai) thru the haze. It's going to be twice as tall as the Empire State building when completed in 09. Currently it's around 2200 feet tall. Tomorrow we many visit the region near Dubai Creek and spend some time at the Souks. So take care all! Rat
Hi gang, it's a hot 108 degress with 90% humidity here today. The management surprised us and came through with apologies and they said they valued our business. The management wanted us to come back and without us even asking for anything except for the room they we booked they upgraded us to their executive level. The anementies are too many to list, but one is the free breakfast which cost $47pp. We took advantage of that this morning. Also, they lowered our room rate by $250 per night. So we're very happy now. Yesterday we visited the amazing Gold Souk and its surrounding area. Amazing displays of gold at the many store fronts. Today is a pool and beach day at the hotel. Tomorrow we may do the HoHo bus tour thru the city. In the next couple of days we'll be visiting the the Burj Al Arab hotel and rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. LOL 'Till my next post...bye from Dubai! PS MaryLou, we'll be back home next Sunday. Ray
