I like to be on deck at "sail-away." To me - it's more fun to be in a party like atmosphere - lots of people and lots of noise. I always love to watch the sailaways in the old movies of the 1940s and 1950s where everyone is on deck, dressed to the nines, bands playing, streamers going everywhere, and ship's horns blasting.

That doesn't mean I want to dress to the nines at sailaway but the rest would be great.

Our last two cruises left at midnight; so if there was a sailaway, we were asleep. The one before that was a river cruise that also left after we were asleep.

Four cruises ago, we sailed on the Noordam from NYC, and watched the city go by from our balcony. For most of our eight cruises before the Noordam, we were on deck for the sailaway.
